For me the most stunning daytonas are in PM, YG green dial, RG choco dial, WG blue dial. SS comparing to them is boring

Strap daytonas are some of the most interesting imho with their dial combinations, strap differentiators, and bezels.

I passed on at least two Rolexes, one TT SD and a TT black dial 41mm Submariner offered to me in the past year. Not the ones I was looking for but probably should have considered them. Seems there's a Rolex drought since...

New Tudor watches are really interesting. They will gnaw off Omega’s market share

Well, not all SS watches are the same. For me Hulk is irreplaceable partner for business trips to Arctic oil fields. It never occurred to me to get PM watch for a such trip.

I was asked the other day “if you could have one superpower what would it be” ?

I said “Russia”.

Platona is a very special piece but the WG blue dial runs it close....

To me, it seems like you just have a preference for sunburst dials. Matte dials just don't do it for you. Every single watch you mentioned liking has sunburst... I sense a theme here.

All Daytonas come free if you have picture with you and Putin

you win the internet with that response.

Agree, after the PM Daytona’s the SS appears too plain/boring.

Interesting way to put it. I remember the first Daytona I purchased, several years before the ceramic phase. I believe the description listed in the watch booklet was "somber," or possibly "sober." These descriptions, used by Rolex themselves, are very telling.

While I wouldn't say boring, I do think the steel models have a more business-like look, while the PM/TT models are just so much more...fun.

Well, it’s an interesting idea. But! I love matte dials on 5712 and 15400. So, the reason is is little bit harder to understand

I’m just reported actual status in Putin’s Russia :)

Now I have some fresh ideas about what to do with SS Daytona. I will start new thread

But both of your 15400 and 5712 are sunburst!! They're not matte at all lol?

15400 doesn't even have a matte dial option. They're all sunburst. Same for 5712, I think only the 5711 has a matte white option.

damn, you have a baller collection. congrats on all these beauties from your pics. I would kill for that Patek you are wearing.

just curious - do you prefer white gold OF to full white gold non-ceramic daytona? if so why?

I own a SS Daytona in black. you should keep all 3 - as SS Daytona is more of a collector's item, more than anything. not as good looking as WG Daytona but it is a rare, prized item.

Thanks! This is only the one Patek I have. Unique piece.

That’s a good question. First I want to say, that’s OF is super kind of strap. Definitely another fillings of wearing. I love it. And almost every casual weekend OF Daytona with me. I can’t choose between them, because loss of every piece is a tragedy.

Thanks!

The last time someone from the US worked for me, it was later called Russian interference in the 2016 United States elections

I asked about this and heard the same. My SA snapped back "they aren't more rare, they're just the one everyone wants".

Have to say I agree with that WG oysterflex daytona no need for the stainless steel.

Perhaps when you retire you will add the YG with green dial a great piece as well
