If I'm understanding your observation correctly, I think it may be an illusion. Because the lug tapers inward towards the bracelet, it ends up having a slightly elongated appearance in a two-dimensional photograph.

I could also imagine that, just as bracelet "stretch" is often due to years of persistent rubbing of debris against the links, so too might be lug hole rounding/widening, no?

I would disagree on the it has not been looked after and the brushing maybe with the flash the photos I think are not the best. I will make a better assessment in person tomorrow and will make my final decision.

I was just making my judgement on this pix.

I would not wear a watch as dirty as this one.

How could a seller send you a pix like this?

It also looks like an old Scotchbrite was used for the brushed finish.

But I am comparing it to my unpolished ‘M’ 16710 and that might be unfair.

That is really NASTY I could just imagine what would be growing in those links just waiting for a fresh wrist to feed on.

Touché. Hopefully just “closet dust” but definitely in need of a thorough grooming.

Will be quite satisfying to clean out, though. Sort of like when my plugin phone charger stops charging the phone and I manage to clean out a massive clump of pocket lint from the jack on the phone.

Update

I just wanted toupdate all and thanks for the feedback.

I ended up getting the watch.

I was full of crap and was indeed polished (very very lightly) but also very very badly.

I took it to the RSC and they did a fantastic job.

Out of full disclosure and if its not ok this part of the comment (moderator) please feel free to delete this part. I got it for my project on my website and if it does not work I might keep it or not.. more inclined to keep it likely as it looks super nice.

Here some photos.

Congrats on getting the watch. Those pics looks incredible, the watch on red vibrates off the image.

Very nice looking example of a GMT. I would swap I’m out the bracelet to an oyster but definitely Keep the jubilee. The RSC quote on servicing the movement is the best way to go. Validation and service at the same time.

I think it has been polished and the case brushing doesn’t look original to me.

I think you can find a better one at the price point.
It looks pretty good for a 30-year-old watch…
