I agree with you when it comes to world travelers, but do you really need a GMT watch to know not to call a business associate on the other side of the planet.

I’m a technology executive. We have offshore developers in India. I don’t need a GMT function to know that they’re 9 1/2 hours ahead of us.

Same here. Extremely simple to merely add or subtract a few hours. Not rocket science.

The jump hour is incredibly useful when traveling between time zones.

I guess I’m an exception. I am a pilot flying internationally. I use it constantly.

That's a bingo. It was designed specifically for pilots traveling across multiple time zones/continents. The OP just illustrates how much of a hype the GMT has become.

I'll be cruising next month after a year of cancellations and waiting.

Darn tootin' that I'll be using the jump-hour, and the home time-zone functions.

I work At a global bank and do business with India so it is nice to easily have the time there especially when daylight savings changes

Makes sense. I guess the gmt is just a sub with a few additional bells and whistles. Plus some may like the bi-coloured bezel.

Just like no one dives with their submariner or use the chronograph on their daytona.

I work with global accounts across different regions so it helps me at a glance if I will get a response to an email. Its generally set to Chicago time as my 3 largest accounts have their global HQ's there.

I haven't traveled since I bought a GMT due to COVID but I don't find it particularly useful since the math is straight forward. If I was hopping around to different time zones throughout a week it could be helpfulI. But for travel from A to B then B to A it's not particularly necessary.

The second hour hand is too small for me to read.

I use it every day; when traveling, to reference the time zone of family, or for a temporary third time zone for clients or when my wife is traveling. The jumping hour hand is more useful than I thought it would be.

They are pretty watches too though. So, liking it’s looks is as good a reason (if not a better) than any to have one.

I would probably never use the GMT function, but just really like the looks of it. As for never diving to 1000ft, I do wash the dishes with my watch on- does that count?

Home time, time somewhere else, has never been an issue for me. Just do it in my head.

On the other hand... the million little 5-50 minute increment things that we have throughout the day never stick in my head. So I have a sub. That bezel is the handiest thing ever.

It’s a cute novelty but 1000x more difficult than figuring out the time in a second zone by normal methods.
I use it all the time and absolutely love the elegance and simplicity in the way Rolex imagined this complication. Even Apple Watch has copied it.

Probably the most used “complication” for me after

1) A dive bezel
2) A chronograph

I use it on mine, yes its easy to subtract/plus dependant on where I am, but its one of the more useful functions. Certainly more useful than a moonphase, which I absolutely love!

At work, a lot of the info/data/products we use reference Zulu time. While it's easy to convert, I still like the GMT hand set to GMT.

I use mine all the time when I wear a GMT. I usually track three time zones; local, home, and Zulu.

I work in a time zone with responsibilities in 2 other time zones. Some people do global work and need to know the time in key places. It would be very valuable for me to have the GMT2 in the 3 time zone settings.
