Seeing it from the perspective of others tempers my disappointment. I suppose not everyone is going to be as detailed as me, the customer, but still - you spend nearly 10k on a luxury item (which I know is a drop in the bucket for some), you hope that the sales people are more knowledgeable with what they're selling.

$10k or $100k, you deserve exactly what you want. I too find it incredibly difficult to believe that this AD didn’t know the difference. In my estimation they assumed you’d still happily take it given the scarcity of available watches and your lack of relationship with them. Disappointing.

Sorry to hear this Jesse. Good thing your dad called you during the purchase.

In using the configure feature at rolex.com, the watch you are looking for is 126334-0010. You should double check my work and pass this number on to the AD.

Thanks Dave!

I ended up sending additional photos from the web to the AD as an example as well. They said they'd let me know...

The AD who spoke to you probably hadn’t even seen the watch. A colleague said it was white and thats all he/she knew.

Take a step back, read your post again. Is that really it? You're a grown up, you've got plenty (and better looking) watches. It can happen.

I'm confused - did I say I screamed at the AD or did I express disappointment on a watch forum?

You can't tell me that you wouldn't be disappointed in a similar situation. You're right - I am a grown up and I expect certain things when I'm paying $10,000 for it (after numerous tries to confirm what they were selling to me).

I don’t think it’s anything to get upset about although the “it looks close to silver” comment is pretty dumb.

White and silver DJ dials are very different, clearly the AD was hoping that once you had seen the dial you would have done somersaults across the dealers floor as you were so enamoured by the watch.

But the two dials give the watches a unique and individual look, not easy to jump from one to the other. The AD would have known this, bad decision to offer silver as white, they would and should have been upfront and told you it was silver, but worth you having a look due to the stylish nature, sunburst effect, blah, blah, blah.

I agree that the white looks better than the silver.

Being disappointed and feeling the need to share it with the world seems a little woe is me. You didn’t pay for it or have to return it , no harm no foul. Seems you are stressing about nothing. But hey that’s just my impression.

It's the watch world - who else to share watch disappointment with than the great people here?

At least some people here can understand.

I think a Rolex dealer should know what they’re selling. I would also be disappointed...

I had a similar experience recently, I had requested a specific dial for the OF Daytona (the one referred to as the PN, with champagne subdials and the black matte dial). The AD calls me to tell me it’s in. I was very specific about this exact dial and showed them the photos, etc...

I drive an hour and a half in traffic to find out it’s a plain Champagne dial. My heart sank... they never produced that watch and don’t seem to care that they made a mistake.

Sorry to hear, Ryan.

Some here are just happy to have any Rolex it seems, but when you have your heart set on a specific configuration and are told that it's here, what else are we to feel other than disappointment when it's something different than what were expecting?

You are well within your rights to feel disappointed, you should get exactly what you want... An experienced SA should know the difference I figure (like not knowing the difference between a roman dial and Wimbledon dial..lol..) but then again they probably have buyers waiting for the silver dial as well... hopefully they will get you exactly what you want soon..

The silver dial is stunning. But at the end of the day it’s a personal preference. Shame it didn’t work out for you especially after all that effort. The white dial does turn up.

Easy mistake to make if your glancing across the room and guessing at the dial color. If you sell expensive watches for a living and make that mistake, your in the wrong business. If you disagree, you are clearly not detailed oriented.

Love the white and dislike the silver, proving the point that the details matter.
