I was in a similar position, except 50th not 40th.

I bought the BB58 Blue and then decided I wanted a no date Sub so visited dealers and got on lists.

I’ve since bought a DJ which scratches the itch for a Rolex for my 50th and have come to appreciate the BB58 even more, the quality and design is perfect.

I’m further up the list for a Sub now but I’ll probably be happy with the 58 and DJ if I don’t get the Sub.

Its your 40th
Buy the 126610LN grey. The premium is not that high.
When you get the one in 2022 ..or 2023 or whenever .Sell one of the two for a profit .
Win win without wasting time .
Congrats on the 40th,40s is a great decade.Enjoy !

I am here to ask you if, in my shoes, you would buy a BB 58 (and which color) to celebrate the BDay.
I like it but I haven’t never considered to add one to my collection till today.

Waiting for your comments,

Happy early bday. No watch will scratch that itch, just wait lol. I think it will be more special, and you already designated it as your birthday piece so whether you get it a month from now or early next year it’s still just that. I have 2 watches to grab for 2 birthdays. Both not far out incoming wise. Hold out.

If you're set on a specific watch it's nearly impossible to find a replacement that will suffice. With that said, I own the Sub 114060 and I'm considering the blue BB58 as a travel watch or a watch to wear when I'm concerned about wearing my Sub. I feel they differ quite a bit and the two colours will compliment each other.

I was re-connecting with the black (OG/gilt) BB58 today and was reminded of how much I love this watch and how excellent it is in so many ways. Looks freaking amazing with khakis and earth tones. Great watch for the fall.

Definitely go with the BB58. Phenomenal watch in its own right.

The choice was easy a year ago. Maxi case was too maxi, and the movement was kinda out dated. Now they have fixed both of those issues, so its a bit tighter.

Well, only you know what scratches that itch. Some people need a rolex, well because its a rolex.

I went grey dial BB58. Now I can't take it off. I dunno, I guess I just need something unique that I'll probably never see on someone else's wrist (as opposed to a sub which seems to be everwhere if there is a rolex to be found)

Nah. Would not even consider it. If you already wanted a bb58 regardless of delivery date of your sub, then you are just taking it before as opposed to the sub. But if your sub was on time and you had no intention of buying a bb58... thats $4k for no reason. Just go to dinner.

Wait for the Sub….I know sometimes it’s hard, but at the end you might regret not getting what you want… plus you will end up buying it anyway….

Considering that you already own a 14060M, I wouldn't consider the black one. Blue on the other hand, is appealing to me until the fake rivets. They were enough to deter me from purchasing it when I had the opportunity. If you like the watch enough to purchase it and can afford to pick up the 126610 later, I would treat myself if I were you. 40 is special and it deserves a momentous gift. Happy Birthday btw!

You can't go wrong with a B58. I prefer the blue.

The BlackBay 58 is a great watch. I own the blue one and I can recommend it for you.

I've no real complaints with any Sub & owned most iterations at one time or another.

However, I have not had as much enjoyment out of them as I have the 58 in black or blue.

That's not a statement that one is better than the other, probably more a reflection of my preferences/lifestyle.

The blue just wins in my opinion.

Happy Birthday.
The BB58 is a great piece and I would recommend you go for the black. The red bezel marker adds character.

I picked up the blue after wearing it for ten minutes on one wrist with my 114060 on the other wrist. It is very different within the bounds of dive watches. the blue is amazing. A year later the 114060 wins out in wrist time but the blue always puts a smile on my face.

I prefer the black, but given the Sub I'd say go with the blue!

There is def room in a collection for both - I have a black SubC and a blue BB58 which complement each other well and are different enough in size and dial color. Additionally , BB58 looks good on the fabric nato-like strap where as SubC does not IMO. Similarly I think SubC looks much better on rubber than does a BB58.

So … go for it !
