Where did all this 'excess' currency come from to cause so many smart investors to buy up so very many goods of intrinsic value?

That is the entity to blame.

Which watch are you looking for? Not all of them go for 2x MSRP at grey.

Like others said, you can go grey, look at other brands, or just wait. You're definitely not the only one who wants to buy a Rolex at MSRP, refuse to go grey or seek alternative, and then proceed to post an "Am I the only one?" post on watch forums, I think I've seen quite a few already.

You know there are plenty of other great brands out there right? This is the perfect time to expand your horizon a little bit and try something different. Give Omega a try and I think you'll be impressed.
