To me it was another marking on this journey it took to acquire this piece. Some luck and determination. When I first saw the DD in magazines and movies I always wanted one. Coming from far below middle class with some times no power even to the house, phone etc. I always dreamed big still and never accepted my surroundings. Some people make timepiece purchases to mark a birth, wedding, grad etc. A guy like me this resembles do not give up and just believe in yourself

Your story resonates with me. I was more fortunate coming from upper middle class, and remember thinking that whenever I “made it”, I would get a YG DD.

I bought your exact same watch last September. Congrats on your purchase, just like myself, you earned every penny, and you deserve it. It’s a rewarding feeling.

I know your story. I too was born into a lower middle class family to teen parents. I always worked, mowed lawns, etc. Goy my 1st real paycheck job at 14 for $.75 an hour. !st in my family to not only go to, but graduate from University, working each summer. After graduation, I took a job 2,000 miles from home. At the age of 31, bought my 1st Rolex, a TT AK. Worked for 43 years after graduation & retired 17 months ago. Yesterday, I bought a new Day Date 36 in yellow gold.....Hard work does pay off in life!

Huge congrats on the watch & your success!

I love that dial! Rolex has made so many interesting dials for the DD models... they all look amazing and I would have a hard time picking one.

I love hearing stories like yours OP. Hopefully our stories can be hope to others to never give up or let circumstance keep us from accomplishing our dreams. My watch is happily at home on my wrist reminding me daily of the hard work and perseverance it took to get there.
