Post of the day.

These situations are why I usually chuckle when I read those other posts about "building a relationship with my AD" and buying gifts for the SA, etc.

Retail is a very transitional industry.

LOL, Peter thinks it's unreasonable to have your AD salesperson be your best man/bridesmaid, Godparent and primary beneficiary too.

Silly man.

What if she's gone off to work for a grey dealer, or maybe set one up?

Imagine the conspiracy theories it would generate. You could dine out for a year on that!

You missed your chance to ask her out. Bummer. You probably had a better shot at getting a date than a watch. Oh well, time to start courting the next SA in the shop. Flowers anyone?

I may get lambasted for this. But I'm sorry I don't understand you guys. A strong majority here seem to have minimal social skills when it comes to interacting with their AD'S. It's a person like you and I who put their pants on the same way.

Go into the store and speak with the manager; who should know who you are if you purchased 3 watches in 24 mo. If he or she doesn't then shame on you. Tell them you heard so and so has moved on and that you would like to continue your relationship and who do you recommend would be a good fit for your next SA. Now sit down with both the manager and the new SA to get to know them and so they get to know you. Explain to them what you are interested in etc, etc.

One door closes and another door will open. If your past SA was so good, then she would have informed you that she was leaving. Maybe she did you a favor and your next SA will be even better for you.

Good luck and let us know.

There is an important lesson here:

When spending hundreds of dollars to thank an AD for allowing you to buy watches from them, it is a risky to buy single malt scotches and fine bottles of wine for your personal SA. Best to buy pizzas/meat trays/champagne for the whole store.

Nice try. This is an entirely too reasonable and level-headed approach for the majority of the entitled here to comprehend much less execute.

Ha ha, you brought common sense and logic into the equation, combined with the confidence and assertiveness of having an actual in person conversation with the owner or sales manager. If you get blasted for that, it means we are doomed and all sales should go to a faceless, online format.

If she gave you her mobile, I think it’s reasonable to call her. She can choose whether to answer. If she doesn’t, you leave a message- sorry you’ve gone, can you advise me who to contact at the AD in the future, have you gone to another AD and were prohibited from telling your clients, etc.

If you never hear back, then you’ll know: you don’t matter, you’re scum of the earth, and you’ll never own another Rolex ever again!

Yup. This. Leave this poor person alone. They moved on, you don't need to track them down for a recommendation to get more watches. Insanity

This is the only advice you should follow. She was a retail, hourly worker. You have no idea what happened/why she left. Last thing she wants is random grown men calling her (on her personal phone I might add) expressing their sorrow that she can no longer get them watches. Ridiculous.

I have to agree with some of the others here. You knew she left the company yet you contacted her directly, not appropriate.

I worked with the store manager, they moved to a new place and now it seems like they aren't working there, they were truly an amazing person and easy to deal with so I hope it was their choice to leave and that they end up doing something amazing.

As for me I am glad I don't want anything watches now

Thought I should share the latest: I did hear back from the AD and it was the owners' son who I am sure is going nowhere! He was very nice and shared "we do not have a list" but will keep me in mind for my next watch. He is the 4th generation of the family so I am certain he is not going anywhere.

I also did hear back from the SA who relocated to a jeweler in Naples, FL - moved from Cleveland, OH - smart move!

Which AD? Does it start with S, A, or K?

Happened to me, nothing will happen to your history, another SA will take case of you.

When a new SA came to attend me, he already knew I had passed on a blro for a Tudor and that the next one I want is the SD43. So the record is there, don't worry.
