I had my heart set on the Lady Datejust Everose gold and steel TT with the Sundust dial. Kept putting it off because I since 2005 I had been wearing a Tag with a MOP with diamonds dial, and the yellow gold and steel of my Tag “matched” my wedding band (yellow gold and diamonds) and my yellow gold diamond tennis bracelet. And I really loved the look of the Tag. Then my husband said he wanted to buy the Rolex for me for our anniversary. But, it turned out that Rolex discontinued the Sundust dial a few days before Hubby said this! Contacted a local AD who said that, nope, no way would I be able to get the watch with a Sundust dial because it had been discontinued. Period. No ifs, ands, or buts about it. So, I went to a different AD, who was able to get EXACTLY what I wanted, because the ASM had one.

We picked it up five days after our anniversary and I’ve been wearing it ever since.

This is surprising to learn. Always felt like the Cellini was a unique offering from Rolex that stood out. Sure it’s not as popular as the sports models, but they’re beautiful and refined watches.

What a lovely story. I hope you enjoy the watch, and as your experience goes to show, one AD to another can be a completely different experience.

I love the Cellini … if they made it in Yellow Gold, I would already have it in my collection.

My AD “told me” (I know) the same thing,”Rolex is discontinuing the Cellini line … we cannot order them anymore.”

My hope is that at worst, this will be a reboot for Rolex Cellini, and that we will see it again.

I hope as well, currently I love the Moonphase and wear it often, but I can’t stand the small pin buckle of the rest. Hope they will upgrade the Moonphase and add the month as well. Best would be to have a perpetual, but that I believe will remain just a dream of mine!

Thank you. Rose gold has a special place in my heart as my father gave my mother a rose gold watch right before they got married, and I inherited it when my parents died. I wore it as my "something old" when my husband and I married.

The first AD not only said that there was no way I could get the watch I wanted, he also said that for whatever watch I ended up with I'd have to "fill out some paperwork," pay in full up front, and then it would be anywhere from 6 to 18 months before I'd get the watch. Not being interested in giving the AD an interest-free loan for up to 18 months, we went to a different AD. The second AD said that they normally take a deposit, but if the watch I ordered is something that they would need for their stock (and he said that all fluted bezel and jubilee bracelets fit that category), they wouldn't need a deposit. He also promised that he would do his best to get the watch (Sundust dial) that I wanted. And he did. What a world of difference between the two ADs!
