My AD said his next door neighbours brother in law is converting his garden bar that he made during lockdown into a mini steel factory for just rolex watches and will guarantee steel for my wish list as long as I keep mowing his next door neighbours lawn
Whoever wants to mow my lawn will be next on the list

For a while I have been calling for them to get out of "steal" and just make TT and full PM.
Leave steal to Seiko and Tudor! |

you tube - no more steel in 7 years, apparently .....
I don’t think they would ever stop producing steel sports models altogether, but I also think that Rolex sees the potential of selling more precious metal pieces in the coming years - seeing as how many collectors have opted for gold at msrp over steel at grey prices. You can’t even find gold day dates in display cases anymore. When has that ever happened?! So I do think it’s conceivable that Rolex could very well adjust their production ratio of steel to precious metal. They can make a lot more selling a gold sub over a steel one. My 2 cents. Archrival Omega would overtake Rolex in sales if Rolex reduce the quantity of their steel models. I seriously doubt they'd want that.

Years past I made such a proposition due to the high demand. There are very few watches Rolex makes that couldn't me made in PM. I don't believe it will happen only that the model could work for Rolex. Hell, many of their SS models might as well be made of PM given their pricing on the secondary market.

You might want to Google why the green is trading at 500k. "Despite the new green model, Patek is still making good on its announcement that production of the 5711/1A will conclude in 2021. The green-dial Nautilus will be made during this year only, which should make the piece extremely limited. Think of this watch as a final send-off for the beloved model—and expect an even bigger Patek frenzy than usual."

might as well discontinue the Submariner line because as far as PM models go, those things look ugly in anything but WG

Won’t happen. Not because steel is their bread and butter. But it’s a way to get people into the brand.
I could see them reducing the percentage of watches in stainless over the years. Who knows what the current mix is, but if it’s 75% steel today, I could see it moving to 50% in 10 years if the current madness continues. If you’re going to produce the same volume of watches and always sell every watch you make, might as well push PM and make better margins |

No big deal. They don’t really have any popular steel models anyway.

While true, this “expert” wouldn’t exist were it not for moronic supporters.
