That’s probably true but it’s a very personal preference. I went for RG and WG for my PM watches because I prefer the look to YG and I think that they look better against my skin. Nothing wrong with YG at all but not for me.

100%. Gold is gold, RG is beautiful and as long as the wearer is happy that’s all that matters. I tried Rolex RG and just didn’t resonate, maybe skin tone. Either way this is truly a luxury problem. Cheers.

Dont get me wrong before I tried on RG and only had pics to go by I thought there's no way that's for me but as soon as I started trying them on it was quite the opposite. Fell in head over heels. I can only imagine how sick a RG Daytona incoming will be. For now all I can do is that, imagine. Hopefully sometime in 2022
Hope you get your RG Daytona soon.

I prefer YG as I believe it's more classic, timeless, and classy. RG is too trendy and feminine for my taste, but I can agree that it looks better on some skin tones. To each their own.

Rose gold is trendy with celebs and fashion right now. RG, WG, YG what’s on top tends to shift with the times.

Personally, I like them all. I only own YG and am waiting on a WG piece.

To be honest my friends with darker skin tones go with YG. It looks better imho.

Your RG looks awesome but I think if you would wear YG it would be amazing.

You make some valid points, my friend.

I've always been a WG fan, myself. But, the RG look gives you a little extra flavor from the white, yet still doesn't shout from the rooftops like YG. At least, that's my take.

The question is, though, is this a trend--or a fad--or is it here to stay? The whole watch business has gotten so crazy lately, I wouldn't even hazard a guess. But, I will say that the recent popularity boom of the RG watch will most likely inspire interest from collectors/buyers who wouldn't have given it a second look before, and, at that point, given, of course, the scale of that interest, its popularity will only go up.

But let’s take a look at what I’ve found

The ever popular anniversary dial DayDate.

White gold models in the 50’s. Rose gold models in the 70’s

Daytona 116509 even the Blue dial, 50’s. Rose gold 116505 no matter what dial it’s the same as DayDate. In the 70’s. Even the oysterflex models have significant differences.

My favorite the Skydweller. Yellow gold/white gold, 50’s. Rose gold, upper 60’s-70’s. Same differences even on oysterflex.

GMT 126719 versus 126715 are the closest in price differences but yet Rose gold still higher. Other than the meteorite dial of course. Yachtmaster seem to be similar though. I believe that covers all references with full Rose gold as an option.

So as a long time Rolex owner/fan I know fads/hype/trends change with the times as well as pricing but as I sit here and wait I think to myself “What the hell has happened” with all this Rose Gold insanity. Used to be Rose Gold always sat and sat. Any thoughts from my fellow TRF members other than the usual hype replies. Whatever it is can someone make it stop so I can get my call

And yes I guess I’m partly to blame. I’m a Rose gold fan. Just trying like hell to complete a hat trick with these 2 so I can call it a wrap! TT covered. SS covered. Rose gold, missing one.
Its the green dial not the gold colour

Fair point yes the green dial is hot right now but all of the green dial DayDates are not selling for the same price. Massive differences in the metal. As I stated the RG is good bit higher than it’s WG counterpart.

Is this the sun dust dial? I really want to see one in person. Seeing it on the computer has it looking anywhere from ivory to rose gold…

Thanks brother. You and me both

Patience is one trait I unfortunately do not have. I have quite a few SS pieces that get absolutely no wrist time, like none, unless I’m going on a trip. To fly a tad bit under the radar versus a PM piece and I’ve thought about dumping a few in order to get it now via Grey. You and I go back to a time when PM sat and significant discounts could be had. But alas those days are loooooooooooong gone and PM prices via an AD are now Grey prices for some SS pieces.

Thankfully common sense is prevailing at the moment. Gonna keep waiting a tad longer to see what 2022 brings. My A D did say he has me first in mind for some interesting RG pieces. Meteorite Daytona? Not likely but I’m not even after a Meteorite Daytona. Granted I damn sure wouldn’t say no. I’ll keep you posted

Got an update Danny! Got a text this morning for a RG on oysterflex but alas it was a Slate SkyD. Thought about pulling the trigger and doing a shake up with my full PM SkyD for a 505/515 via maybe a trade and boom I'd have the trio of sorts if I could land the right trade/deal with my 326935 for a 116505

But thankfully my A D contact talked me off the limb and said just hang tight. Give it some more time. It was tempting because if I found the right trade partner I'd have ended up with

326235 RG with Slate
126715 RB
116505, depending on hypothetical trade partner

Much rather have it go

326935 Chocolate. Box checked
126715 CHNR. Box checked
116505/116505. Wait continues

Boils down to if I am gonna have a OysterFlex model its gonna be a Daytona not a SkyD. Plus the OF SkyD was slate. If it were Chocolate it might've been a wrap. Alas the wait continues but I'm hopeful. I'm getting texts. Just waiting on the right one. Not like I cant wait a tad longer. I mean I'm not hurting by any means by waiting. Still have quite a stable in the meantime. Kinda proud of myself for not letting my lack of patience get the best of me. Plus my A D contact is an awesome guy. Cant wait to hopefully bump this thread with an awesome incoming versus my constant dribble lol
