I get that it looks nice, but a tiffany blue OP41 fetches more than a Sub, and to me that's just wrong. I mean if you don't care about originality, you could probably buy the black OP41 and have RSC switch out the dial to the color and it would cost significantly less.

It’s actually quite a kitsch looking watch as is the OP imo. But will appear to many I’m sure.

Hype color mostly due to the similarity to Tiffany. It also happens to be a really good-looking dial color too.

It fetches a premium due to low supply and high demand… In answer to why there’s high demand, I can’t help there I’m afraid

It’s a nice color, but I can’t get past those double markers at 3, 6, and 9 so I’m not going to have to worry about finding a seat on the hype train for this watch.

Hype, high demand, low supply. As with almost all Ss models.

Yeah, I agree. It looks like Patek copied Rolex. If Rolex doesn’t release the Turquoise Blue dial OP, I seriously doubt there would be such a thing as a Tiffany 5711. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I have to say, Rolex must be killing themselves laughing at the prices people are willing to pay for what is their simplest movement in their most budget line, just because of a dial colour.
Here in the UK the prices on C24 are (hilariously!) circa £14k to £16K for the turquoise dial OP. For the same money you can pick up a BLNR with it's more complicated movement and greater functionality, or even a TT SkyDweller which is entirely at the other end of the Rolex spectrum compared to the OP as it's their most complicated movement in their least budget line. To me the demand for the turquoise OP is symptomatic of everything that's wrong with the hype-driven nonsense currently surrounding the brand. |

It's unusual, it's attractive, it's eye catching, it has a good name, and it's relatively atypical for Rolex.
And so we have demand that far exceeds supply. I'd love one of these, but not at the going secondary market prices, and you know ADs are going to reserve these for their most select customers, so it's not like I can just walk into an AD and pick one up. |

I like mine.
But if any feels miffed they weren’t on the 170 list…you can have OP at the retail price of the 5711 as a consolation price! |

The Tiffany's one is swaggy. If that appeals to you, you will understand.

Its quite funny when these colour dials were introduced way back in the 1970s they were quite poor sellers on DD and some DJ.But now mainly to hype they are now the greatest thing since sliced bread, hype sells watches today and many wear the hype and not the watch.
The stella dials from the 1970s just a few but there were red and yellow.
