I certainly would do this if you want/like the 5170G specifically (and not just a Patek) and see a long term spot for the 5170G in your collection. You will be unlocking value in the BLRO at or near peak and getting into a watch that has depreciated somewhat. Not going to post my opinion of the individual watches because that is immaterial.

It's close, I would keep the BLRO but if you made the trade I couldn't fault it.

I definitely would not do it. I had a chance to wear my friends 5170G and I own myself 126719BLRO, so between those 2 BLRO is a winner every single day.

Selling 126719 BLRO to fund Patek 5170G

I’d say yes, do it.

If it’s the meteorite dial, then absolutely not.

I would do it since the 5170 is whole new level of beautiful watchmaking, I'm a big fan of Pateks first in-house chrono. Plus you can technically get the same look Pepsi for about 10k if you every wanted to revisit, one day when the excitement for this model drops or we get near end of life (or hundred other reasons) much more will be produced with more accessibility.

Can’t go wrong with whichever decision you make.

I’d probably do this trade
