Stick with it. You bought it for a reason

When does the thing calm down and stop eating f&@ing sticks of the ground. My one threw up in the park after trying to eat a stick and it still didn’t bloody learn. If anyone wants a free bulldog puppy let me know lol.
Your post is more a reflection of yourself than your puppy.

And your class.

There are times when we have wanted to pull our hair out. Learning to laugh and not take things too seriously is part of it.

This guy showed up on our property 2 weeks ago. Skin and bones, severely malnourished and full of worms. We tried finding his family for 7 days only to realize he had already found his family :)

He is doing great with the kids, our other dog and our cats. Now we are teaching him not to chase the chickens or horses or get killed by our donkey.

Here is my now 1 year old Belgian Malinois. He's a rescue and took much more work to undo what his previous owner did to him than starting from scratch. Saving his life and seeing him transform into a wonderful dog was worth every bit of hard work and frustration.

Not sure I understand when folks don't get really attached to their dogs. When my Wheaten Terrier passed in March 2020, I took the loss really hard. We adopted Tucker here as a young pup from one of those southern dog rescues and we're glad to give him a great life. He's really a pretty cool pup living a better life than he otherwise would.

Oh, I more than feel your pain. My dog is now 3 1/2, but I'm some what surprised it survived the first year and a half or so. It gets better (usually)....

We spent a couple of years getting our Jack Russell pup under control, but I can't imagine time much better spent (the day I missed an important work deadline spending three hours getting him back on the leash is but a distant memory). He's almost 12 now, and is the most fun-loving, loyal, intelligent and joyful dog I've ever known. Obedient, too. And yes, he is family.

I think you get out of a dog pretty much whatever you put into it.

I’ll take my dogs over 99% of the people I know. Only had one “easy” one out of 5 dogs in my lifetime. They were all worth it and I love/loved them all very much.

We

I initially posted a really nice story, however upon reflection of some of these posts I decided it wasn't in the interest. All I can say is dumb and dumber is alive and well.

Ah the cute cuddly Bulldogs you see chilling online!
You will get there. It takes around 1 year for them. Bulldog breeds are notoriously difficult to train as they’re stubborn, but they do grow up. My wife called in a Trainer and in 2 hours taught him and us a few key words; sit, stay, off. Our French Bulldog was an absolute nuisance for a year. Now almost 9 he’s an absolute gent. I’d happily take him off your hands!!

Lovley dogs everybody not sure about the dogs are better than people comments. Agree will probably take time. We spent time today me and dog me hugging him while he was chewing on his bed. Quite nice.

You know its funny you started this thread. Almost two years ago exactly, we bought our family a pup and my goodness, I almost started to cry after the 3 or 4 weeks. I was angry at dog lovers because the dogs are the best but after speaking to a bunch of them of our hair-raising experience, they all and I mean all said that the first 6 months are hell.....I was angry as no one said this to me, to prepare me. He would need constant eyeballs on him, continually persuading him not to chew or nip at the children, shoes or anything, he would hump us all the second he had a chance, he would have pee puddles or poop droppings as we were potty training him etc. BUT, after that passes, and it did, he is the best thing that the whole family loves and enjoys. He is precious and turned out to be so gentle and sweet. The only thing missing is an actual voice coming from him, he is incredible and love him to death. Just stick with it, this time will pass....I can totally draw comparisons of having a new born child in the house....except when they grow older they do not answer back!
