Recently got my first. Love it. Incredibly comfortable. It will be interesting to see how they fair in long term value. Thankfully that’s not my primary objective when I purchase watches.

It’s phenomenal worth every bit of the hype as far as Daytona goes and yachtmaster

It could be gigantic with Sky Dweller

The Oysterflex strap is extremely comfortable and durable. It does not scratch, does not accumulate dust, and is very easy to clean with soap/water or Wristclean spray.

I enjoyed how low key the OF Daytona looked. The rubber strap doesn’t really attract much attention.

I personally did not like the underside fins as they can make marks on your wrist - these indentations go away within 30 minutes to an hour after removing the watch. Also the fins elevate the OF strap and make it look a little bit too bulbous on my wrist. I read a comment by another OF wearer that they were considering cutting off the fins to improve the comfort.

The WG Daytona just felt a little bit too top heavy for me. I would have loved this model on a white gold bracelet instead. I think the OF strap would instead be perfect on a stainless steel model. It would feel more light and sporty.

While the OF strap makes the watch more sporty, the white gold can get scratched very easily in my opinion. I think of the OF Daytona as more of a dress watch than a sports watch.

Good luck on your search!
Thanks for taking the time and providing that concise opinion. Much appreciated.

I have an OF Skydweller. Agree with all the comments above but my clasp has a glide-lock / mini-glidelock which gets over the Daytona issues. It is dressy and so I agree not to think of it as a sport "by the pool" version. If you want that - go for the SS options.
Very comfortable and fins are not an issue for me personally.

Had it on the Daytona and loved it. The YG just wasn’t for me but I loved the strap.

I have two… I think they’re very comfortable once you get them sorted out.. I’m an E/F.

I think they’re low-key and very sporty yet elegant.

Comfort is good - actually wear mine in the gym when lifting weights, I've got a special trick which I use to stop it scratching

As others have said, it's surprisingly low-key & I'd imagine a steel Rolex can sometimes be flashier, esp a DJ with fluted bezel as compared to my Daytona OF w/Paul Newman dial

Steve! It’s been a while. I was away for various reasons. I trust all is well!
I’m surprised you don’t have one of these. You absolutely need to get the WG OF. It’s very comfortable. Not as humid here as it is in Miami but I can golf a round with it and hardly notice it’s there.

Hi, thanks for your comments, you said “ I've got a special trick which I use to stop it scratching

What is this trick? Could you explain?

All good Tom, great to see you back. Yes, I’m going to pull the trigger on a oysterflex

Questions for oysterflex owners

Is the OF really as comfortable as they say?
- OF is incredibly comfortable, but I didn't find it to be noticeably more comfortable than my Everest straps.
Does sweat and grime accumulate in the bellows?
- Sweat accumulates anywhere if you produce enough of it, so I wouldn't discount the OF because of this. Always a good idea to keep your watches clean.
Do the bellows leave any strange indentations on wrist afterwards?
- Nothing drastically different than what any other band/bracelet would leave. If your wrist swells, it swells.
Do you tend to wear the OF tighter than you would a bracelet?
- This is personal preference. Mine was heavily dependent on the activity that I was taking part in while wearing the watch. Golf? Tighter. Desk diving? Loose.
As a replacement to a sports watch, would the OF tick the boxes?
- Not sure I can really answer this, because I wore the OF on a sports model (16570 Polar)

Any other points I should consider if I go for OF for those times when a bracelet doesn’t really match the activity?
- If this is going to be your one and only Rolex, I would be hesitant to buy the OF because it would look out of place when wearing a suit or more formal attire, however this is entirely due to what your typically daily/business attire looks like.

I think they’re probably consumable items as far as Rolex is concerned. They’re too new to know, but it would be interesting to see whether they’re changed for free at service when they’re looking worse for wear. The cost is minimal and a bracelet polish (included) is far more expensive on a labor standpoint than two pieces of rubber.

Maybe just get a Daytona on a bracelet and get a rubber b. I put one on my milgauss and with the Rolex buckle it’s pretty sweet. It’s not as perfect as the oyster flex of course! But then you still have the bracelet to change it up.

It is very comfortable and blows the standard rubber straps (Panerai, etc) out of the water. It isn't even in the same league. OF is easy to clean and you can use whatever solution you use to clean the watch case on the bracelet. I use WristClean and it works great! I haven't had any issues with sweat or grime accumulating in my experience.

I like to wear my watches snug and the OF is designed with that in mind. The reason for cushions underneath is to aid in stability and also ventilation. It is normal for the OF bracelet to stick above the surface of the skin ever so slightly. You'll have small indents on the skin, but that goes away quick after removing the watch. OF is the perfect bracelet solution for a sports watch imo.

As mentioned previously, just make sure whoever is the doing the sizing has experience with OF. It is very easy for the spring bars to pop out and ding the case because there isn't any spring bar windows on the back side of the bracelet. My case was dinged by the RSC, but they made me a new matching serial # case and all was well.

I hope this year Rolex will roll out the mini Glidelock for the Daytona OF. All of the other OF references have it (YMs, SkyD on OF) except the Daytonas. It makes a huge difference with on the fly adjustment and in the initial sizing phase. The OF comes in may different sizes, but it has a large gap between them so if one's wrist size fits in between that's where the mini Glidelock comes in handy! The EasyLink on the Daytona can only offer minor adjustment.
Agree with everything said here. I also have the 126655 and the glidelock is a huge advantage on OF. Perhaps a 2022 upgrade for Daytona??

Just added the WG version and has become one of my favorites! Unique, stealthy and understated. Will add YG version. Think you will love it and if not, you made money if you bought from your AD.

To be honest, looking at your concerns for fit and wear, I would go with an OF model with the mini glide lock.

Much easier to get the right fit with the OF, which can be tricky, but oh so rewarding, depending on your wrist size.

I had one but found the case too heavy. Following the RSC recommendation for the sizinng, it's D/E for me but couldn't never get a proper fit with the different adjustments. It was either too loose and too tight then I cannot wear too long with marks on my wrist from the fin.
I find the weight on the steel version more proportionate (should be the same for the gold).
As mentioned, the glide lock would be welcome (like for yatchmaster) in order to have more precise adjustment.

They can likely be removed but requires the removal of the bezel, similar to as shown here on a WG 116519

I have the OF on both the RG yachtmaster and the WG Daytona. I much prefer the OF with glidelock on my YM but prefer the daytona overall. However, i do have to agree that the Daytona feels much heavier on the wrist - esp when i go from wearing that to my SS Sub. Overall the OF is comfortable just wished it had glidelock on Daytona. YM wears perfectly. Still trying to find the perfect fit with my Daytona. (Been 2 weeks that I got it)

Rubber on a watch will always be comfortable, especially in hot weather.
