I love subs, and own a few different models in SS and WG, but this particular configuration is not something I’d ever consider wearing.

I’m obviously in the minority here, so it must be doing something right.

Just not for me.

The Bluesy is a beautiful watch, in a showy kind of way. There are other beautiful watches in a more understated fashion.

I used to think I wasn't a TT fan, until I saw the Bluesy IRL at the AD. Honestly, my jaw dropped. The beautiful dial, the great blue and gold colour combination, the aura emanating from this piece. It's got a surreal magnetism, like it's been touched by the gods.

To me, it's the perfect watch for the weekend, a night out, a special occasion. I could wear it daily but I choose not to because I want to keep that "special watch" feel. So I tend to wear the "boring" ones from Monday to Friday.

I let my 116613LB go a few years back & now really wish I hadn’t

Although I didn’t wear it all that often I really miss opening up the watch box & seeing it sat there.

It was a great summer watch & really sparkled in the sunshine & looked great with a tshirt & jeans.

Personally I actually preferred the gold print on the previous model to the stark white on the latest generation.

Just my 2c but both great references.

One day I may go all out & get the full PM version - now that really is a stunning piece

I love that watch, but for me its not worth the $20K they are going for.

I’m torn between this and a YM Rhodium. I much prefer the YM case but I love the blue and gold. The submariner case is inelegant and too blocky for me.

I’ve had plenty of nice Rolex watches over the year’s, but there’s just something special about the dial on the Bluesy it’s stunning, never get tired looking at it

Can anyone point to a good Bluesy Reference article or forum post? Would love to learn more about the differences in each Bluesy model but I haven't been able to locate such a resource. Thanks!

If you don’t have the full gold version then the bluesy is the next best thing. I hope to have a bluesy one day.

Have to disagree my friend. Bought it and was so happy a year ago when it released. It was my first submariner of the 12x series. But it somehow never clicked fully. I would sometimes find it beautiful and sometimes jarring.

I think it all started when I saw a bloke at Burberry, wearing this reference, and looking like a total tool. I started to think “wait, I don’t want to be associated with these young kids with little taste”.

Now, it goes well to some people and I reckon I over think it. But I find the two tone jarring because the colors AND texture clash. I’d much prefer the gold PCL to be brushed.

I have several Sub’s including a blue bi-metal ‘bluesy’, a WG 40mm (Smurf) and a YG 41mm…. (No idea what people call that one but please do tell me!!)

If I could only have one, and I had to wear it every day….. it’d be the ‘bluesy’.

Best all-rounder and undoubtedly the biggest ‘bang per buck’ of the lot IMO.

I have always wanted to add the bluesy but just never pulled the trigger until the 41 sub came out. Love the newer dimensions so I sold my 116610, 116610lv and my 116619 and added the 126619 and 126613. I am very happy with both. I had the new LV but sold it to my SA as O can add it again later. The larger bracelet and thinner lugs are the best in my opinion.

A Bluesy was always my grail watch. Bought one a few years ago and you know what? Sold it. It turned out it was just too flashy for me and while I've always gone to the beat of my own drummer, I felt it was too showy. I live in a very blue collar town and I found my self being too self-conscious about it. I don't even know anyone else who owns a Rolex. Ended up with a 41mm Black Sub date and never looked back. It was nice to have the experience though.

Your mileage may vary.

I’ve toyed with getting that a watch for years but it’s a strange one for me.

In pictures I absolutely love it. In the wild when I’ve seen it on people I’ve been slightly underwhelmed and I can’t really explain why.

I think I need to actually wear one for a week or two to make my mind up.

Never really have that with any other watch. I either like or dislike.

Just can’t make my mind up on the bluesy.

Love mine. Got it in September. Not a big spender at all, only previous purchase was a TT SD.
The first Rolex I feel in love with. A real beauty

Well, your opinion is interesting. Mine is a 116613LB not the 12 which I’m less fond of.

Henry Ford once said about the introduction of the Model T, “ Any customer can have a car painted any colour that he wants, so long as it is black.” Obviously to each his own.

I honestly think the Bluesy is one of the best looking Rolex watches ever. The blue is so captivating. Used to have it as my everyday watch. So sad I sold mine. Hopefully I can get another one sooner than later.

Thank you for saying this! Due to my friend from Switzerland’s comments (which I respect his opinion), I am wearing my Bluesy today and yes, it is still one of the most fantastic looking watches I have had the pleasure to own.

You are correct, the bezel was originally designed to pair with the flat blue dial on the early 116613 and it does that job perfectly well.
The sunburst blue dial in a 116613 was an afterthought from Rolex, a silent update due to the disappointment from many that the sunburst blue 16613 dial was not being carried over. They never updated the colour of bezel to match the sunburst blue dial. Sometimes in some lighting it can look odd in my opinion.

Here is my “flat” blue dial on my early edition 11 series Bluesy.

I am on the list to get the 12 series, and will have to compare, when I own them both.

Don't think you can go wrong.
A BIG step up, in my opinion, from black dialed entry level subs, DJ, explorer or air king.
The Hulk is lovely, but at the end of the day it is another junk metal piece. Same with the OP however enchanting the colors and yes I love my op but ONLY as a summer watch.
Adults should step up to GOLD for their daily wearing!
