In the end, is it really worth it?
unfortunately I have yet to find an AD that has jewelry that my wife likes. if they had bvlgari, tiffany, cartier jewelry (not watches) or even better van cleef that would be amazing but my ADs have all pretty pedestrian and provincial stuff. really would love to get higher up the list but no point if the wife doesnt like it.

I don't think they really consider Cartier, VCA, Bvlgari etc. sales any higher than other Rolex purchases as that stuff is lower margin and basically sells itself just like the watches.

Somewhere around the world... in a secret location known only to a few... are a bunch of AD owners and managers reading TRF while drinking wine and whisky and having an absolute blast reading posts like these.

I bet each one has a top 10 lists of posts from TRF that they read out loud to each other as they guffaw and bend over from laughter.

Oh to be a fly on the wall during those meetings.

I had been trying to get my wife a Turquoise (her favorite color) OP since their release

Reached out to AD, Sept 2020, no purchase history.

Kept checking in every month or so….nothing.

Seriously contemplated grey but couldn’t wrap my head around the ridiculous premium that just kept going up.

Decided to buy a diamond necklace for anniversary from the AD- Oct 2021 I had a very good buying experience and appreciated the knowledge from the AD. Spent just under $4K. I otherwise would’ve probably gone to Costco for something like this and just winged it.

Wife absolutely loved the necklace.

3 days before Christmas, AD calls and offers me the Turquoise OP.

Wife freaked on Christmas morning - it was awesome.

Wife then went to AD to get the watch sized and received the warranty card. She also had a very good experience with the AD.

Guessing I overpaid $1K or so on the necklace but saved at least $15K on the OP vs Grey. Plus the AD experience and relationship in case we need anything is a plus.
