OMG, exactly. I read the title of this thread and I wondered where a stock market had crashed??? Obviously not in our country, I bought stock today!!!

I think it's fanciful for anyone to think that somehow Rolex's are above market dynamics. They are not free from volatility, and if anything - meteoric, sudden rises typically are followed by hard falls.

I wouldn't buy with debt and I wouldn't "invest" needed savings or retirement money in them.

Most of us are heavily invested in stocks and gain or lose any number of Rolexes per day in market fluctuations. We accept that the market goes up and down, but down is no fun.

I'm hopeful the correction will not be too deep. Either way, I'm not going to be paying for grey anymore because 1/ my money is in the stock market, and 2/ paying grey now is the equivalent of buying high (selling low).

I’d rather have a hard time sourcing a watch from a Rolex dealer than see the stock market crash.

The market is up so HIGH that only a complete wipeout will have an impact. Economy is strong. This is just a correction and will have little impact on the fundamentals. Wait a few more years for the big one.

Also, just to illustrate how demented things have become in society, some want the market to completely meltdown in hopes to get a Rolex cheaper, while their 401k’s get decimated, they lose their jobs, and have to shift their lifestyle completely. Really guys?

When a topic named "Stock Market Crash" is allowed as a main topic on a watch enthusiast forum...the watch world is soon to collapse.

Paid? Where are you?

Honestly, the watch market craze is mainly (underpin mainly) a US phenomenon - probably due to the US debt crisis. Printing money, etc. Increasing inflation. Placing money into "assets".

Sure, the market is partly crazy elsewhere - but not as infectious as in US at the moment. There is de facto an unbalance in the US.

In general, the same unbalance is not seen in Europe, even though the market is out of whack here as well - however not on the same skewed level as US.

For those that strongly disagree: Have a look at YT and at popular grey dealer / grey market dealers. You can't find the same "out of touch of reality" at the same scale as in the US.

Does all this mean that the market will crash?

I have no idea, but looking into the long term cycles (7 years), we're at a peak. 2021/2022 - 2014/2015 - 2007/2008 - 2000/2001 - 1993/1994 - 1986/1987

What happened at those 7 year interval peaks....

1987: https://no.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Monday
1994: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1994_bond_market_crisis
2000: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dot-com_bubble

A stock market crash would be catastrophic to the world, especially as its healing from a pandemic.
Who wishes for a stock market crash? to get a watch? what is wrong with you?

Stock market crash is long overdue at this point. The low interest rates and printed money just postponed it as most people throw it into stock market/crypto artificially inflating it. This is not the 2020 anymore.

This madness has to stop at some point and there is no way speculative watch market will void what's coming. Back in 2008, the first things to let go were expensive cars and watches. The Rolex will be the next "emperor's new suit".

If March of 2020 didn’t do it not sure a market correction in 2022 would.

Bots do 80% of the active daily USA stock trading. Front-run their algos and make many, many millions

Many people are enjoying this hobby without a crash because they love horology, not investment value.

So in order to buy a daytona for 15K vs 45K you'd like to lose how much in your other assets?

I would hope you got more going on in your life financially than a trivial watch collection.

Exactly, If you’re on this board I would hope you have a portfolio. If someone’s largest asset it a watch they have priorities wrong.

I certainly do not want to see a stock market crash.

Agreed, but cash is trash so what price will it be by then? 10% increases every year, compounded, means in a few years we'll be wiping our arse with dollar bills like they do in Zimbabwe. Can't have a true strong dollar, not allowed by the Fed's math. Someone is going to blink, and it's not the Fed with unlimited printing powers.

Losing one Rolex a day is a real kick in the pants for me.

I thought HFT was up into the 90% range now, but nonetheless, as with every modern-day correction, the algos have only one job and that’s up! As long as algos have money to spend their goal will be met over and over again. Until that well runs dry; that’s not happening anytime soon, if ever.

BlackRock has access to unlimited funding by the Fed, or the Fed just goes direct to the world. So in your scenario, the currency is literally unlimited.

Of course the value of the currency is another matter. Perhaps that's why cash is trash and everyone is dumping for Rolex, etc.
