Ok, but any watch far too large for a small wrist looks all wrong i.e. the lugs over the edge of the wrist. For "empty dial", read "clean, uncluttered" Depends on your frame of reference I guess. Plus the 15500 and Jumbo shouldn't really be compared in my view.....both fit a need and are great pieces. |

As any AP aficionado will tell you, the listed diameter means next to nothing – it’s all about proportions. The 26320, 15400, 15500 and 26239 wear very differently even though they’re all 41mm. Just because the 15300 is 39mm isn’t a good enough reason to compare it to a 15202. The only AP the 15202 can be compared to is the 5402, and now the 16202. |

it was just released in 2019? what makes you think 15500st will be discontinued? the releases of this year is only catching up to the updates of the 15500st (movement, dial, etc). i will say it this model won't change for at least a five years other than introduction of a new dial color (maybe, if that).

Even if a few greys manipulate the market (still the market), the demand is there and not enough supply meaning watches are being sold as close to asking price... that basically tells you that "the market speaks"

The clasp of the 5402 was made by gay freres. I know I had a 5402 and you can google this. The movement was made by JLC and shared between the Vacheron 222, 3700 nautilus and the 5402 RO. The JLC movement was a workhorse movement. Nothing about the 5402 is "in house". The 15300 is closer in spirit to the 5402, and than the 15202. The 15300 is an organic direct descendent of the 5402. The 15202 is a zombie in a pretty dress resurrected by marketing departments. Watch enthusiasts cringe at faux lume but nobody is cringing at dressed up faux vintage movements https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/in...guet-royal-oak https://www.hodinkee.com/articles/ju...wesome-super-t I'm glad that the 16202 is out and that there is a modern movement in it. |

If the 15500 is discontinued, it has a pretty short run, I’d guess the shortest of the iterations. Seems a bit strange to do so…

Interesting. There were multiple references to a more big news on April 15 in the articles on this week's releases. As the SS/YG/RO Jumbo, 38 and 41mm ROC and 15550 already had their day in the sun, it seems the long rumored/wished for ceramic brethren to the 77350CE and updates to the 15500 are natural candidates.

To discontinue 15500 in such a short run is a bit crazy thought...But what's not crazy in the market now

Well the movement alone is worth $50,000 and each link is worth $6,108 so it actually makes sense.

I thought this was BS but checked and it’s accurate. Funny enough, I bought a Carter Santos from Takuya today because my other watch, a black dial 15500 that I bought from him 2 years ago, is getting a bit too pricey to casually walk around with. Pretty stoked with my new purchase which I feel is a sleeper.. 💤 😴
Takuya by all measures is gold IMO. |

The black, white & grey dials will be 100k soon. Blue will be 120k.
Makes complete sense as it’s nicer than the 5711 in terms of finishing, bracelet, craftsmanship, movement display. And AP makes LESS than Patek every year. Remember guys, Patek scrambled for a Genta design 4 years AFTER the Royal Oak. Historically speaking Royal Oak came first and started it all |
