Bro buy that link. Now they ain’t never gonna call you again.

If you give ‘em a bad review about a tiny link might as well give zero stars

And I’m sure AD’s never talk to one another.

There have been threads where a Rolex has been resized to fit a smaller wrist and the removed links have not been included in the box.

If I am buying a Au$20000 Rolex I would expect it to fit my wrist at that price.

Totally agree.

And just because the consensus of the forum is that its ok to charge for extra links needed doesn't make it right...

Rolex should supply spare links to AD's at no cost to the AD or the customer for sizing purposes.

Can you imagine how open to abuse this would be?
Ultimately Rolex don’t need to “throw” anything in. They’ll sell the watches regardless.

I do take your point in an ideal world, but in this case it’s a sellers market.

I’ve only got a 6.5” wrist so extra links are never an issue for me except for 1/2 links and 1.5 links for sizing. In the OP’s case I would think there would be some flexibility with steel links when someone’s wrist size is clearly bigger than what’s provided. I could see a little less flexibility for PM links.

Did the AD take away the link or something? I would not expect them to just give you a link if it was not originally included with the watch. I assume they probably don't just get links for free from Rolex.

The bank check policy is a bit strange. I could understand a surcharge on a credit card, but not taking a credit card at all seems unusual. That said, it is their store, and you were not required to buy from them.

Hmm. I’m torn on the link deal. While I understand the policy, I also understand the OP’s point. If you’re paying sticker at the retailer for a $15,000 watch, and you need an extra link to make it fit (and demonstrate same in front of them), that’s not an out-of-this-world ask. If they have them in stock, it would be simple to hand them over. Or “buy one get one”. What did they cost the AD? 50% of the retail price?

The credit card deal just solidifies the perception that they are more concerned about every cent in their bottom line than they are about customer service (This assumes they have a CC sign on their front door).

Did anyone consider that maybe the AD made a determination that this customer wasn’t worth stretching for? I wonder what role the OP’s behavior had in the response of this AD.

I would have never expected an AD to give me extra links for free. Certainly not in this environment. As for the check, while not the norm, I’ve been asked by an AD to pay via bank check/wire. Neither strikes me as odd. Frankly, the only thing strange is holding back the sleeve, which isn’t that big of a deal

I agree with you Ross, a lot of BS from this AD.

If a shop doesn’t understand that a customer has to be happy and leave smiling after spending >10K they’ve lost it.

Funny to see the difference in opinions in this thread, so many want to please the AD whilst it must be the other way around

Time to enjoy your watch

I have always purchased any extra links I needed from my AD. If they gifted them to me that would be nice but I don't expect that.

Ok, so we now know one thing for sure: the value of a negative online review is approximately $250.

If an AD is running so thin that they can’t take a credit card… I’d be very wary… temporary AD

Not only is this A.D. not temporary, but they're great to deal with and have been around forever.

They can afford it but they can essentially do whatever they want. They have a customer base that will buy every Rolex they have and almost all of them will do it with a check if they have to. Maybe they save 1.5% or so, but they have no real downside.

Each Rolex has multiple potential clients after that one watch in most cases.

Of course they can afford the fee, but they just choose not to have to pay it. Customers jump through hoops to buy Rolex these days

Not at all Great to Deal with. Who has the nerve to tell the customer they cant have the outer box sleeve because Rolex wont allow it? Who? These Bozo's that's who.
