Similar to the YM, it’s also not instantly recognized as a Rolex, which limits its appeal to a certain demographic.

Totally. It doesn't get more recognisably Rolex than the classic case with the long hands, cyclops at 3, glinting coronet at 12, fluted bezel. It's got Rolex written al over it. It's also got DJ written all over it unless you look harder, get closer or know your watches. I like that.

YM looks a lot like a sub (PM versions) The SkyD looks very busy with its size, the 2nd time zone, fluted bezel and OF. But then again many people find the daytona busy and illegible but I love mine on OF :) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It's an excellent piece. But honestly, it just looks like an upgraded version of the DJ on steroid.
The same thing as seadweller, just a sub on steroid. |

I was offered one the other day and declined it, was not keen on the oyster flex and the watch being big, felt too top heavy. I don’t think they are hard to find as I was offered one within a week, in Dubai.

Resale wouldn’t be high on my list for purchasing this one, the desire for it needs to be there. Choco or slate would be my favorite on rg. It’s too large for me, I’d think it wears larger than steel versions due to the OF flare/fins

Great looking watch, a 42 PM with fluted would have looked better in leather IMO. Too bad they don't offer both. At 40K plus, there are many other options to consider.

They use to come on leather. Imo - they didn't look right given the thickness and size of the bezel; it looked dressier with leather but didn't at the same time because of the thickness and bezel of the watch so it felt like a mismatch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I do wish Rolex made it easier/possible to swap between a OF and full metal bracelet! Would love to have that flexibility and both options. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I don't think he asked if it's a good investment or not, vs general views. Obviously there are better investment only pieces. Not sure the green Daytona is in the price range, but indeed a good investment if that was the intent of his question. As previously said in the thread, I think there is less of a premium on the aftermarket because this watch is loved by some and clearly not by others. I for one am loving it. I also think it will be interesting to see if they evolve or do something with the SkyD this year on its 10yr anniversary, which might result in them not continuing with all current versions which could impact values. All speculation though... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I am more freaked out by the fact that people are freaked out by the fact that a watch is "only" 10-15% above the MSRP

The SkyD on OF is an odd combo. A fluted bezel clashes with the OF in my opinion. Similar to wearing a tux with sneakers.
I love the SkyD otherwise. For those that feel it’s a larger DJ41 - you aren’t the targeted audience for the watch. |

I liken it to wearing a tux without socks and the right patent leather loafers. Agree re DJ41 comment. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
