What is the point of the thread? Get it repaired. Easy. Who knows what caused it. If you don’t trust the Rolex quality get rid of it and buy another brand.
You asked for feedback that is mine. |

Sand particles if rubbed against it by towels for example can scratch it. Another possibility could be that your watch was scratched before your beach trip. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Update: I popped into the AD today and as expected, the damage to the crystal is not covered by rolex warranty.
Next step is to get a quote for crystal replacement - 2 week wait for a quote! But it gets better - if they don't have the part in stock, then it could take up to 6 months to get the job done!! 6 months to change a small piece of glass? I'm gobsmacked. I also have to leave the watch with the AD while waiting for the crystal to be shipped in. Makes no sense but that's the way it is. How did we get to the point where even the rolex service standards are now so rubbish? If that's the way I treated my clients, I'd be out of business in 5 minutes. Ignore it. You can still see what time it is.
Have it changed out at your next service. |

It sounds like Rolex and you are parting company. But you'll need to get the watch fixed first.

My suggestion:
- Sell the watch, perhaps to the AD. - Move on to another brand. Rolex’s service and quality can’t be surpassed but you can try. |

One of mine has been scratched for 8 years now. It just makes me worry a little less when I wear it. The dealer I bought my first one from had some reassuring words for me—wear it, enjoy it, and take it back when it gets too rough for it to be cleaned up. Anything that happens to it can be fixed and there are ways you can polish the scratches out yourself if you are a risk taker.
