I came across a 116520 with the blue Beach dial a few years ago at a pawnshop (it had been modified, also came with a white dial with Arabic numerals from a 116519 so someone with connections probably owned it before).

Bought the watch and now I've been offered 3x what I paid for the entire watch for the dial alone. Crazy times

Be extra careful with this watch as an investment… you can read in the linked topic above why.

This reference very clearly illustrates people have gone completely mad and greedy at the same time. On C24 you will see the straps advertised for absurd amounts while just can order them via any RSC for a FRACTION of the prices on C24. Same for the dials…..
Only problem with these straps is they are made in limited batches and an order can take many months due to time between production runs.
There is also quit a big chance worldwide numerous conversions are in progress with a huge demand for these parts for obvious monetary reasons….

I absolutely love those pics and the watch itself! Left a great impression on me!
Wish Rolex make something similar but with OF strap!

Seems like the Tzoffeys1818 auction is mainly diamonds and not watches.
Could be a good opportunity with few other bidders looking for watches.

When the OPs were released a couple of years ago I instantly thought of the Daytona Beach models and asked my dealer for a full set of them

Its funny when they first launched them way back in 2000, they could not give them away very very poor sellers. But today mainly because of internet hype they now bring silly money, but thats what Rolex watches are today just money objects.

Isn't this they way for most collectibles, those not popular at launch and thus are produced in limited numbers will rise more later if they get popular. Look at old Daytonas etc.

Regarding hype etc. The stone dials beach models are actually in a long line of Rolex stone dials and very nice in person. I don't understand how some like regular dials ahead of these stone dials, they are hot

Be Careful. There is a post here of a guy who managed to swap out another dial for the Beach blue one - apparently still possible to do and his watch looks awesome but it wasn't an "original" and apparently there are a lot of watches in the marketplace with the same dial and strap swap. If you want an investment watch - make sure it was a "beach" when leaving the factory.

Well myself been around Rolex for over 50 years and never heard on any forum or location that any so called beach Daytona were great fast sellers.

I remember when they were new too. An interesting curiosity that the dealers loved to show you, but yes they were in no way flying off the shelves. I also remember a few years after they were discontinued, NOS sets in the $16K range.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but 99% of the online pictures of this illustrious set of four do not show the beauty of the stones used. The Apple-green chrysoprase stone is the only one with some kind of translucent waxy finish, quit unique even for a stone dial!
Sorry for all the dust ….

Here is the pink one. I always thought they were cool for the ladies and actually tried to talk some to get them back in the early 2000’s.

This is quit an unusual example, the hands are lumed BUT they are the thin ones used in older Daytona’s. Usually all the recently done conversion projects come with the thick lumed hands since these are the right ones for this dial according the Rolex parts ordering system.
And it’s seems unpolished, extremely rare for other then NOS pieces of the Beach.
That price though…..
