I’m beginning to believe that heavy drug users have entered into our hobby. Reason is only someone extremely stoned or an out of control young person in their 20s, the son of a multi millionaire who's father doesn’t care would ever even think of spending that much money on any Rolex let alone a gold Daytona. What a joke. I hope it continues. I really do. Cause then I’m going to unload my entire collection on these wasteful morons and buy a freaking mansion on lake in Northern Maine and laugh my ass off all through retirement.

Rant over

PS-I will keep my hulk though. And one vintage gold timepiece. I just wanted to be clear on that.

the investment narrative is stronger than ever. i see a lot of crypto people on twitter saying they're preserving their capital by buying watches. there's so much money out there from the last few years of up only assets that you don't really even need any conspiracy theories lol

How is buying something at over two times it’s value good “investment”??? It’s not. It’s moronic. No sir this is about ego. Desired positive perception by people with more money then sense. It’s driven by egotistical sociopathic personalities mostly caused by social media. It will be interesting to watch it crumble down because it will be massive.

You know I’m a collector just like you. I would not pay 35K for that reference. But you sure are right about the crypto money. It’s everywhere. Meanwhile when it does crash people like us will still be loving horology.

yeah i don't know. to people who have been around a long time it's insanity but to newcomers it's completely different. all these grey dealers on youtube are saying if you buy these watches they'll only go up and when you're new it's easy to buy into that. it's basically a ponzi at this point and people will get burned for sure but i don't think it'll be any time soon

Exactly! Grey Market manipulation is what's causing this. They are greedy, only care about money.

I agree with you totally. Actually Ponzi scheme is a great description. As far is it not ending anytime soon I might disagree with you on this. It will end soon as the economy crashes and that’s probably not too far in the distant future. However guys like you and I will benefit because we will be right here to buy whatever watches we want at below normal pricing.

Overlooking what’s really going on and the motives here. Cryptos are using watches to try to wash/transfer profits. It’s pretty obvious watching price charts of each. So they really don’t care about making money, that’s not what it’s about. But like any bubble overwhelming demand continues to drive bubble price. Minksy’s framework would more than likely classify today as being in the Ponzi unit phase. Huncho you’re always on the ball with finance/economics.
