Well even his un set Rolex is correct twice a day. ( I assume he does not wind it either).
You must assume he doesn’t move his arm to engage the automatic winding…

Just plain stupid. I could maybe see not setting the date for a bit, but the time? Straight D Bag.

Anyone who doesn’t set a watch is an absolute toss pot. I realise I’m not sitting on the fence here but…

I remember viewing the house of a guy who was wearing a DJ41 on oyster. Crystal was completely foobared - cracks all over, watch stopped. Needed to hack it immediately.

I know because I was wearing the exact same watch on blue. Mine was set to within a few
Seconds.

Needless to say his attitude to watch maintenance was
Similar to his attitude to home maintenance and cleanliness and I didn’t buy his big but shabby pile.

Speaks volumes about laziness, inflated sense of worth and general fecklessness in my opinion. Set your watch or you might as well be a total jerk.

Look at all the shoes in the background. Fashion matters, not function.

A rock hyrax could be trained to read an analogue watch given time and patience. But you’re right.

This shouldn't surprise anyone. The new generation of watch collectors want them only as jewelry and know nothing about horology nor do they care to.

The dude is Mayor, world famous shoe collector. I remember this vid, Jaysse Lopez (the dude who you can see his face) was over at his house to inventory and sell his shoes for him.

Some people have strong emotions to other people not setting their watches, relax, it's a watch. Not only that, is someone who you don't even know, why do you care. If your enjoyment of a hobby hinges on how other people enjoy it, you have self reflection to take care of.

EDIT** And the dude is like 50 years old, he's been into luxury goods and higher end stuff for a looooong time.

The point of getting a watch is to tell the time and if you can't set the time on your watch then it's just as good as wearing a bracelet

I’d say for a good number of people, Rolex owners or not, the point of wearing a watch has little to do with its ability to tell time. That’s just a bonus lol

His watch, his choice. Seems daft and pointless to me but he should please himself. This type laziness/affectation/whatever is informative. For example, he's be the last person anyone should buy a car from.

I've never got into the habit of checking my phone. I've had a watch on my wrist since I was about eight years old. It's always what I automatically go straight to if I want to know the time or date, although I will look in the bottom right of the screen if I am using a Windows PC because that's also become a learned habit.

Time and date always set for me. Minute or so fast. What is the point otherwise?

He admits he has shoes he didn’t even know he had. Can’t wear a shoe you don’t even know exists in your own collection.

No. It's funny that I just did that like an hour ago setting time on my DJ41. I usually use my cable box clock or phone, but I noticed they were actually a few seconds' difference. So, for the very first time. I Google Atomic Time and all set.

Rolex should start selling display models, I'm sure they would be a big hit.

part of the fun is how accurate good watches can be.......

this is nothing new.
Andy Warhol wears a Cartier and doesn't even bother to set the time.
It's a man-bracelet and he admitted to such.

wear and enjoy it however you want, i guess.

No, when I rotate to a new watch, I hack the movement and set the time as accurately as I can. It's pointless I know, because after 1-2 days the watch will drift by a few seconds, and I don't bother resetting it again. I just like to see how fast or slow it goes... I use this app which syncs to accurate NTP servers: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...tl.atomicclock

I've been in a hurry to switch watches and have done the same thing. It's embarrassing but it happens.

Sad state of affairs. I always wear a watch, any time of the day. And that’s where I check time. I would never check my phone for that.
It’s also the reason why I wouldn’t wear a watch that is not easily legible at all angles (and why my Speedmasters still get the most wrist time).
