I have a couple of Rolex with a slightly misaligned rehaut and I am perfectly fine with it. On the other hand a misaligned bezel would drive me nuts.

If it were me, I’d prefer the bezel being aligned than the rehaut.

Mine is the same. So I just adjust it so it’s in the middle.

I must admit after viewing the photos, I would of left well enough alone. The " before" picture I could live with, Now not so much. Rolex is no where near perfect and would of just considered myself lucky to get one and just wore it if I was in the market for one. I would have to send it back now.

Another argument for 5-digit Rolex watches then. The advertisement 👑 advertisement 👑 advertisement is better left off the rehaut.

Thanks for that.
Now instead of watching the Super Bowl I’m sitting here studying my watch wondering if my rehaut is misaligned.
I don’t even know what the hell that means

Enjoy it. If you want perfect it’s not going to come from a Rolex. They are amazing watches but I have never seen a perfect one.

I can't imagine allowing that minor issue to cause me any anxiety. If that was the kind of thing I had to stress about, I would be a happy guy. Best of luck in life...

Sadly, as we all know, that's got nothing to with quality

“Quality” is as subjective a measurement as value. The only objective measurement is what people are willing to pay.

True, although quality control is objective.

Rolex Ownership and OCD

I didn’t even know the rehaut was supposed to line up with anything. I’ll take a look at mine later. I can’t tell from the naked eye I’ll have to use a loupe or something.

I just checked and my rehaut is lined up perfectly. Sweet. It’s so small and my vision is terrible. Watches sure look big in pictures on the internet but they’re small dainty fiddly things in my hands. I’m not an ogre by any means but I’m always surprised how small they are in person.

Looked much better before to me than after. The bezel not lining up with the dial would bug me. The rehaut doesn’t matter to me at all. I thought it was just randomly inserted with Rolex written around it.

Is there a universal scale of measurement, an overseeing body, a Consumer Reports of watch quality or is this assessment based on observation?

Rolex Ownership and OCD

These imperfections are def on my list of items new luxury watch owners wish they knew before…

There are many examples of OCD imperfections. Rehaut alignment, bezel alignment, accuracy within tolerance, date mag issues, etc.

These are massed produced products that have extremely effective QC tolerances. The watches will not fail in their intended purposes. However, if the small imperfections annoy you, send it in or move on from the brand.

Personally don’t care. I did when I first started collecting though. You get over it with time along with scratches.

You are just being obtuse.

If for one second you believe that Rolex QC is better than GS, you are in a very small minority.

At no point did I state that. And you are being evasive. You stated an absolute. I asked for documentation of your absolute. You, unable to provide it, resorted to the ad hominem attack and finally acknowledged that your stated absolute is based on belief not evidence.

I know Rolex isn’t perfect because I own them. Mine was a simple question, how do we measure QC. You, who speak so definitively about it, seemed like a good guy to ask. I was wrong.

Your narrative suggested otherwise.

And it certainly wasn’t an attack, ad hominem or otherwise. My apologies if you took it as such.

Yes, my stated absolute is a belief. It is however a belief based upon personal experience and the views of many who’s experience and knowledge is greater than mine. I’d go so far as to say that it’s a belief generally shared by many in the WIS community.

In the absence of any reports or documentary evidence, that’s as good as I can give.
