Classy answer to a post that agreed with another post. FChat is calling you home. Oh...and by the way...I have owned a few F cars as well.

Do you want the bet or not? If not, STFU. Don't accuse me of lying and then backtrack. Very JV of you.

No thanks. Internet betting is not my forte but apparently it is yours. Good luck with your 812.

As for regular production comparisons, Rolex is the same as I wrote above.

Ferrari Roma = Any TT Rolex, Air King, Any non blue dial SS Milgauss/AirKing, eg: less desirable pieces
296 GTS = SS Daytona, BLRO, BLNR, SS Sub

As I said, my 812 GTS will be at the dealer in a couple of weeks--then I will have ceramic coating and film which will take another 2 weeks and then it's up to Chicago weather.

And I have placed a deposit on a 296 GTS which hasn't officially been announced yet.

If you're being treated poorly by your dealer, switch dealers.
You have a history.

Waterking just quoted inadege’s post before you stated your history.

One time on Fchat I made a troll character named Mondial Joe. It was pretty epic. My troll character lived in a trailer with his mama and had a pretty rough Mondial that he would cover with a tarp. He would write posts about how he drove the Mondial to the gas station to eat fried chicken and play video poker. At the car storage place I use there’s actually a few Mondial so I ordered some plastic truck nuts. I was going to hang them on the back of one of the Mondials and post up a picture on F chat, but by the time the plastic nuts got here I was bored of the whole troll character and never got around to it.

This only applies to limited production Ferrari models. The regular models such as 488, 812, Portofino, F8 etc can be bought at a dealer by anyone with money. They don’t get ”selected”.

Try visiting a few Ferrari dealers and a few Rolex ADs (if you haven't already) and speaking to them. I know it's more effort than pounding a keyboard and watching YouTube, but research? Seriously?

HA! Me neither. I also don't like race cars, which modern Ferrari's essentially are. A grand tourer or a large luxury car are much more my speed.

In real life, I drive a 21 year old Honda. Will...not...die.

Thanks, that was the whole point of my numerous posts. There are comparisons between Rolex and Ferrari as per the OP.

“regular models such as 488, 812, Portofino, F8 etc” = TT Rolex, Air King, Ladies DD, Milgauss, etc

“only applies to limited production Ferrari models” = SS sports models, Daytona, GMT, Sub, etc

In the Rolex world there are comparisons mind. You can buy a TT whatever…and an Air King…non blue dial milgauss, and as many sky dwellers as you’d wish so long as it isn’t a blue dial. Daytona SS, BLRO, BLRN, Sub SS…well you’re now in the aforementioned Ferrari territory, I.E. you ain't getting one without a strong purchase history of many many years or significant short term purchase history. Just like Ferrari.
I didn’t say that. I said you could buy any regular production Ferrari. None of the cars you listed would be those.

Now, not to be an asshole or anything, but I have to question your post. You said “you can buy a TT whatever…” from a Rolex dealer. Well I tried to buy a root beer 126711 two tone from the dealer and have been unsuccessful. I eventually just bought one on the secondary market.

I’m not some super connected person; just an average enthusiast. As I said, I have been unsuccessful in getting any Rolexes at list from an AD. Everyone I visit say they don’t have watches to sell and I’m out of luck.

The guy who got very defensive about his posts and put a 100k bet on line bet is what Ferrari owners do not want to be characterized as.....unfortunately, some Ferrari owners do act like this and it is shameful and embarrassing.

Interesting points. Maybe another overlap is that both Rolex and Ferrari are automatic only these days. Which eliminates any interest I might ever have in their cars.
More of a BMW and Porsche guy. Currently very much enjoying my last of its kind manual transmission Beamer. Wouldn’t have it any other way. Just like I enjoy winding my Speedy in the mornings.
Rolex definitely has better QC than Fiat/Ferrari.

Yes, sorry, my comment about TT should have included a disclaimer excluding the “only” hot TT watch, which you have identified accurately as the CHNR root beer. One other (to a lesser extent) would be the sub bluesy. But all the remaining plethora of TT Rolex variants are the Portofinos, Roma’s of the Ferrari world, namely easy to buy without any history.

I’m sticking to my ferrari/rolex comparison evoked by the OP, namely of Daytona, GMT, Sub, Blue dial skydweller, blue dial Milgauss (I’ll add CHNR and bluesy for clarity) are your limited production ferrari’s (essentially final run variants of a given model), you ain’t getting one without extensive history with Ferrari, just like you ain’t getting the aforementioned SS Rolex. Oh…and meteorite dials? Those are the Ferrari Apertas of the Rolex world

Nah.

Rolex is more like Lexus. Mass produced good quality reliable luxury. Tudor is Toyota. There’s a couple rare Lexus here and there like the LFA but overall anyone can get whatever Lexus they want with a few bucks.

Ferrari would be more like Richard Mille or something where nothing is cheap and readily available and sky is the limit for new car pricing/new watch pricing. Except Ferrari has a better history and brand recognition than Richard Mille.

No perfect analogies. But Rolex is 100% not Ferrari.

Strangely when I went to the Ferrari dealership in Miami as a tourist they were really nice to me and let me check out the cars and sit in them. I was expecting to be treated pretty badly as I had mostly been in Miami up to that point.

As an aside people actually stopped me in stores and on the street and asked me where I was from because I sounded really friendly and smart. Slight southern accent and good manners and demeanor. It’s funny how that’s a rarity in some parts.

How Rolex and Ferrari are the same...

Don’t own a Ferrari, would likely never own one…… if ever do would be happy with a classic!

This might be the most ill-informed thread I’ve read here in a long time, and the bar is very high. Most of it is absolute nonsense, and the little that isn’t is so obvious you probably didn’t need to “research” it by watching YouTube videos. Embarrassing honestly.

Some low quality personalities in a Ferrari thread? Say it isn’t true! Haha

I like the 575 Superamerica convertible manual transmission. I’ll never buy an ICE car again unless it’s manual convertible and an excellent experience. Thinking Porsche Boxster 4.0 some day. Or maybe old cheap beater Boxster and rag it out.

The big thing you missed is reliability, F-cars are notorious for breaking often and having seals go bad, and this is with cars that have less then 10K miles, most owners dont put much more then 1000 miles a year.

I have a friend that use to own one, and he did the 1000 miles a year thing. Despite that, cuz of age\years one year he paid $1500 for an Oil Service and $5500 for a maintenance service. Nonetheless they are beautiful automobiles

Most have two types of shifting. Auto and paddle. I find my paddle shift very engaging.
