Another vote for Fluted … smooth is not even a consideration in my house.

Smooth bezels are a bit too boring for me.

I would take the smooth bezel straight up - more casual. Fluted reminds me of all my Rolex-wearing retired in-laws.

Is Fluted Bezel worth 2000$ more on Datejust compare to Smooth Bezel?

I think I’ve decided to get a jubilee also but this combo is a good mix of sporty and dressy. And yes, I think it’s worth it.

It’s not worth it. Go smooth bezel. However, I do feel Datejust should be on the jubilee bracelet, which only cost slightly more than the oyster.

Absolutely the fluted bezel is an ICON and only way I would go DJ. Otherwise would go with other references or brands

I think the fluted bezel looks better on the yellow gold or rose gold combo.

Fluted is the signature character of the DJ. Otherwise, just get an OP and save even more.

For me a Datejust has to be...

Datejust = Fluted bezel + Jubilee

It is the essence of the watch.

It depends on whether you want a sport watch vibe. Some people opt for the oyster and smooth for a more sporty look. However, if you get a Datejust you should go for the classic fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet. If you want a sports watch just get a sub.

For me I like the fluted bezel on the DJ with the oyster bracelet to keep it looking a little more modern IMO (fluted plus jubilee is a gorgeous piece, but doesn’t go with my style). To me if you’re going to get a smooth bezel might as well go for the OP instead and save even more (possibly opening up room to add a fluted DJ to the collection later as well if budget is a factor). Just my $.02

Right. Don't even ask if the date wheel function is worth $2,000

If you don't like these things than it's sort of like being a mountain climber who hates heights. Or someone who loves Rolls Royce's but hates the hood ornament. But I get it....I don't like those elements on Sport watches (well I do like the Cyclops on the Sub/GMT but I digress) but I think the fluted bezel/Jubilee on a Datejust or Sky Dweller is great. It allows light to really dance off the watch and gives it great wrist presence. If you don't want that I would say buy an Oyster perpetual.

IIRC, fluted bezel is made out of white gold. That alone, would make it significantly more expensive in material and then there is labor to machine the flutes… of course you need to add some profit that is relative to the investment…

In Canada, the price difference between a fluted and smooth bezel for a DJ36, is $1500. To me, that IS WORTH it. For the bracelet I could go either way with jubilee or oyster, depending if I wanted a more elegant or sporty look, but the bezel needs to be fluted!

Here’s a look at both. I much prefer the fluted bezel.

I think fluted is a must, but if you prefer smooth, I think jubilee is elevates it and makes it stand out relative to something like an OP. For example Biden’s smooth + jubilee looks OK. Fluted and oyster is also an ok mix. Fluted plus jubilee is best
