Like others I am not overly sentimental but would understand if it was a wat h that you bought to commemorate a child's birth with the idea of passing it down.

But the fact that it arrived near one of their birthdays wouldn't be something I'd associate any more than with a lawn mower I bought on the day of their birthday.

If you want a Skydweller more than those two you mentioned do it. I will however require a wrist shot or wrist measurement before I can endorse such a large watch for you specifically :)

I like the blue SkyD more than either of those two watches individually. However, I still like the Sub and the BLNR and would rather own that pair than one SkyD.

The Sky D is a very cool watch but it’s also very top heavy and I would never want to daily one.

Never mind what I wrote!

I just saw you also own a Sub LV and a BLRO. In that case, I would shed your super case Sub and BLNR for that SkyD blue dial in a heart beat.

I have a Blue Sky Dweller on Jubilee and it's a fantastic watch. I think it compliments your other pieces well. As far as sentimental value....the watch was not a gift from someone you love or who has passed so I agree with the poster that said that really the fact that you bought it around the time of an event in your life should not carry a whole lot of weight but only you know how much that weight actually is. If it was hefty I doubt you would even consider trading it. I have a DateJust from 1986 that was a gift from my parents (deceased) and it will never be sold....I did give it to one of my sons recently instead and he will never sell it either. You don't even consider selling or trading a piece that really means something to you. I do think that the 2 pieces you are thinking of trading will be easier to re acquire from an AD than a Sky D would be. Subs are avaialable if you wait and even GMTs are much easier to get from an AD than a Blue Sky. I was fortunate to get my blue Sky D from the AD (after turning one down! on the first day we locked down in the pandemic in March of 2020!) I didn't know which direction things would be breaking then and I thought it sent a bad message to family and staff to run out and buy a new 15K watch when the sky was falling etc. and my AD understood that and amazingly offered me another one a year later (after also getting me a black Ceramic Daytona in the interim). So the alternative really would be to just get what you want from an AD and wait for it and you'll wait longer for sure to get the Sky than the Sub or GMT IMO. but you never know. At any rate if you like the SKy D do the trade because on paper it's worth more than the other 2 pieces together and you can only wear one watch at a time so make it a nice one. The Blue Sky is a really nice one! (as an aside...I would keep the black sub and trade in the LV but that's just me....I don't like LVs and it's worth a lot so that would be the one I'd get rid of )

These two are my most sentimental watches: 114060 my first Rolex and luxury piece and the BLNR - it came just before my daughter's 1st bday.

What are you thoughts on this trade ? 2 SS for 1 SS? I am pushing for direct swap, no cash involved.

I have always bought new from ADs. But for this one I have no chance as my history is with multiple ADs.

My other pieces are 116610LV, 126710BLRO and DD RG Olive.
Sentimental value is created by romantics, do it if you can't get the SkyD out of your head, you experienced Sub and GMT, if it is time for something else do it. You can always go back to Sub/GMT if you miss them by trading the SkyD, yes it may not be the same watches but we are mortals and we don't need to keep everything that we associate with good things that happened in life with us all the time. If people are selling their first house, or the house that their children born into for a better and bigger house, you can do the same with watches.

If you are in need of a sentiment, you can associate it to it being your first luxury annual calendar watch and/or your daughter's second birthday.

Obviously, sentiment not a real issue...just a talking point...so, yes!

Thanks. Indeed, I got the call a bit earlier than expected which just about happened around her 1st birthday.
My wrist is 17cm and wrist span is 55mm. The lugs do not flare out.

Back in 2019 when some watches were still sitting at the windows I did try a TT Sky and at that time I thought it was too heavy and bulky. Ever since that, I dismissed the entire product range. Maybe now I am too biased and wanting to like it.

Yes, indeed. I meant the bracelet and case.

i kept the BLNR instead of the BLRO due to sentimentality.

My wrist is 2.5 cm larger and I wouldn't wear something that big.

Take out the emotion, get 5K more back, and I say it's a fair trade.
That's what I keep reading from more experienced collectors here - never sell your first Rolex.
Which one did you get - oyster or jubilee?

I did reach out to a few dealers.
First offer I got was BLNR + Sub + cash (6k-7k).
I will be looking for better offers and ideally direct swap 2 for 1.

Thanks a lot everyone for the inputs and opinions. A lot of food for thought.
I definitely want to keep the collection more diverse, instead of having several very similar watches with different bezel. But at the same time each one has it's own story and meaning.

I reached out to few dealers. First offer I got is: BLNR + Sub + cash (6k-7k), which I would never do.
Will keep the tread active until I make up my mind.

Let us know if you decide to reach out to any AD’s and attempt the trade for a new one at MSRP route. Could have some good luck at an AD that sells new and used, and you’d hold onto more cash than going grey.

This. +1,000. Personally, I'd offer up the LV, but that's because the all-green "11" series is probably my least favorite steel Sub variant. And since OP purchased it at MSRP, it's also the best trade deal he'll possibly get in terms of original cash spent and watch-on-wrist (SkyD) at the end. It's also a fantastic deal for that AD, who essentially gets to sell that SkyD for 2x MSRP "off the (Rolex) books."

Coming back on this.
So after few low offers from grey dealers, one of the ADs with whom I have purchase history reached out.

They will have brand new blue Sky-dweller on jubilee for me to look at and if I like it I can take it. In return they will take my 2020 BLNR jubilee and 2020 114060 Sub, both in mint condition.

I haven't seen the watch on jubilee yet. I did try it on oyster and I thought it look more sporty on oyster.

If you got them both at an AD that is a pretty good deal. I don’t like the SD too big to my eyes, but the deal itself sounds solid as long as you like it.

Yes, both purchased from ADs in 2020.

Too big was my first thought as well and that's why I have pretty much dismissed the whole line up. But after trying it last week on oyster, it did not feel big for my 17cm wrist.
