I would love a crack at it except the YM bezel needs to be blasted correctly to look oem. The movement needs a full service so just do the entire recon at that point. It will come back stunning. If the price is “stupid cheap” I would go for it.

I got some more photos of it. The biggest issue is this ding right on the edge of the lug. Can this be restored? Can gold be laser welded?

If I send to RSC would they say it needs a “service case”?

RSC don't laser weld, they'll offer to replace the case. Not worth it IMHO. There's got to be other gold Yachtties in better condition.

How much is it and where’s it at? If you’re not going to buy it I may.

I don’t necessarily want to share the dealer yet as I’d like to have first dibs on it ;-). He’s asking $11K. I think I could get it for $10K.. but overhaul will likely be $1500-2500 depending on where I send it.

Solid gold Rolex for 11k? Let me know if you don’t buy it. I can’t get a ladies model for my better half for that from an AD.

Pretty sure I was offered a ladies model stainless DJ for 12k last time I went into the AD. And that was bundled with a rose gold gmt for 40.

Concur. As long as the crown appears to screw down snugly and the back is on tight, a soft bristle toothbrush, Dawn dish detergent and warm but not hot water will do wonders for any Rolex. I don't dunk mine, but rather get them wet from a faucet at a gentle half flow, then scrub them gently with the toothbrush, then back under the water to rinse. Then it's onto a microfibre towel and pat dry, then a hair dryer on medium to finish it off and get all the water out of the nooks and crannies. It's flat amazing how good they look after.

Clean my wife's jewelry the same way and have for years.

But, this one looks like it's due for a full service at an RSC. Plan on spending $1000 if nothing needs replaced but it's well worth the $$$ and will come back to you with a 2 year service warranty.

From Rolex website.

Different types of 18 ct gold – yellow, white or pink – are obtained by adding a certain proportion of silver, copper, platinum or palladium.

Looks as if the Cu and Au in the mix are showing signs of oxidising?

I would start by lightly wiping the watch with a gold or silver polishing cloth.

You can buy some jewelry solution and soak the watch in it for a few minutes.
