Agreed, this thing rocks, would love to add one for my 50th birthday, but being platinum wouldn't it make more sense to wait till I'm 75 ?

It’s nice, but I prefer the blued hands and numerals.

For me, the smooth bezel distinguishes the watch from white gold DD. for an untrained eyes, the Plat. DD with dial color other than ice blue will look like white gold DD.

I got the DD ice blue motif and love it....the bezel on the DD ice blue motif looks strange on the pictures, but could be different in real life.

I love the fluted platinum. However, I will admit that it blurs the distinction between platinum and white gold. Particularly if one is considering the meteorite dial. Is that dial still offered in both??

Meteorite is still available in both WG and Platinum, yes, Platinum with fluted vs smooth bezel yesterday.

Seems everything other than ice blue is available in WG and Platinum with fluted bezel. Slightly odd decision by Rolex. Guess they won't sell many non ice dials in Platinum now...

Finally got the fluted bezel on PT, looks much nicer. I can understand some DD PT owners being upset about this decision. Aside from the ice blue dial, basically looks like the WG version unless comparing side by side or someone who knows what they are looking at.

I wouldn't say upset. I'm happy that I've got one of the discontinued ones with a preferred smooth bezel. That's my 2 cents

Personally I liked the smooth bezel on platinum. Beautiful either way however.

Am I the only one who can't stand Roman numerals on watches? Makes them look so fussy and dated.

Much prefer the DD40 with the regular hour markers.

It's the fluted bezel that does that!

This is the winner amongst the otherwise lackluster releases IMO

Out of my price range but IMHO, that's now the most attractive watch Rolex makes.

Smooth bezels just don’t work with DDs or DJs…… it’s got to be fluted to be a Rolex!

.

A new DD36 128236 platinum fluted bezel is also available starting today , even if unannouced.

The smooth bezel platinum DD40 is discontinued, no more 228206 on catalog.

I love the flitted bezel, has now been added to my list with my AD, really do not like smooth, so it works for me

100%.

My guess with a platinum SkyD coming out this year was wrong, but not my prediction about a fluted platinum bezel. Being Rolex now has the process in place, it's only a matter of time before a platinum SkyD arrives.

Platinum DD40 is pure fire

I much prefer the smooth. The point of a platinum DD is understatement. Stealth wealth if you will. The fluted bezel goes the other way. Also, unless the dials are only ice blue, people can’t really tell a platinum DD from a WG DD at a glance. I think it’s a silly move. I also just prefer the looks of the smooth version, the fluted bezel makes it more flashy, almost tacky, the opposite of why you buy a platinum DD, over rose gold for example. Just not as classy and understated with the fluted.
