Very glad you are looking in to all thinks Rolex makes a refreshing change to what you see mostly on forum lately. Myself been studying the history of the RWC for the past 50 plus years, and when you dig deep there is a lot of history about the Rolex brand.

The Reverso is in a category of its own. One can't compare it with "square" watches from other brands. It's an iconic milestone of the watch-making history. I think you have to have one in your collection.

Here's a "not so traditional" Reverso Squadra World Chronograph. This was my heavy hitter prior to my SD43 acquisition last month. The Squadra is a very big chunky watch and in my opinion came up toward the tail end of the big watch era (when Panerai, Frank Mueller, etc. were popular) and is no longer produced.
I haven't decided yet but I'm likely planning to part ways with the Squadra in light of the recent SD43 acquisition. I do have a more traditional Reverso Duo from 2000 which is much more dainty and dress watch-like.

Don't think I could draw comparisons between the two manufacturers as they both have very rich histories, producing watches which are very different and to a very high standard. |

Many Rolex round cased model are basically built on the foundation of the Oyster Perpertual concept (Explorer, Explorer 2, DJ, DD, Sub, GMT etc). As are Reverso GMT, Duo Face, Moonphase etc that are built based on the basic case design of the Reverso. So the OP and Reverso 3-handers can be considered equivalents in terms of their influences on subsequent models that built off of those foundations. |
