Cancun is a US marketing fantasyland, designed, constructed and plopped down in Mexico. You can't even get authentic Mexican food there.

You're definitely ok in Cancun. Mexico, that's another story.

Ibiza is probably one of the worst places to wear a Rolex , they have lots of gangs working to spot and take them from drunk or drugged tourists.

I had some little street rat try and take my Hulk a few years ago but fortunately he couldn't get it off my wrist

I always bring one of my Rolex watches on a holiday.
For me the time to relax and having some fun goes together with wearing a nice watch.
Never experienced the slightest bit of trouble.

When the day comes that I don’t feel comfortable wearing any watch I will sell them all.

If the OP is even asking the question, then the answer is 'no don't take it' .

Is it worth having a holiday ruined and potential threats to your wife (and you) just so you can wear your Rolex? Why take the risk?

My friend had his Rolex robbed at gunpoint in Brazil and it fundamentally changed him.
He is a hard guy and he felt like he had been violated for a long time after.
I am an ex boxing coach and if someone approached me, its likely I would not hand it over. Instinct would kick in and I would try and knock them out. I don't want to put myself in that position as they would likely be armed.

We had a similar thought this month before travelling and bought 2 beater watches for travelling (outside 2 in the pic).

I wanted lightweight, quartz, waterproof, date, timer, on rubber straps and bought the Tag and Tissot.

Couldn't be happier!
I now chuck my Tag on all the time when doing jobs at home etc and the wife loves the Tissot as it comes with different colour straps.

The whole experience has been very liberating.
Its great not having to worry about what's on your wrist.

Never get this logic, what makes you think you would be at higher risk in Ibiza than the UK?

Just wear a jar of Gypsy tears around your neck. You will be safe.

Couldn’t imagine going on a trip and worrying about a watch…

Your guard is down....

Unfamiliar place, so you don't know the sketchy characters/areas/bars.

You will likely have short sleeves on and had a few drinks. In Leeds, the OP probably knows the iffy things to avoid.

In Manchester I could point you out gang members on a night out. Which gang, where they go, how they operate etc etc.

I wouldnt have the slightest idea in Ibiza or any other foreign place.

In Argentina even using your iPhone on the street isn't safe. Thieves on scooters will grab it right out of your hand.

If you must use your phone on the street locals caution you to stay away from the curb.

Rolex watches are certified vomit proof. It's in the small print.

Perfectly safe in Ibiza .

I wore my Rolex in the caves in Jamaica, on the subway through the Bronx, and at dodgy nightclubs in Orlando and live to tell the tale :)

You'll be fine.

The most dangerous thing I’ve ever encountered in Ibiza is the pungent body odour of the free wheeling hippies found in the mid week Ibiza town markets.

You’ll be fine! I love the island. Like with any hotel. Avoid leaving things in the safe/room. Just take 1 watch to wear and relax.

Of course it’s fine. If
You can take a Rolex to Ibiza what’s the damn point.
Make sure to go to Formentera

When in doubt, don't. I typically wear one of my Seiko Divers or a G-Shock and focus on having fun on my holiday and not worrying about a watch.

How about wear the watch within the 5 start hotel/resort and when travelling outside leave it in the room safe? I personally would not be walking around Spain with a Rolex showing, its not worth the headache. Wish you a good trip!

If you have doubts leave them at home. Great to be on an 18-30 holiday with the mortgage paid off !!

Buy an automatic Seiko diver as a traveller and never have to look over your shoulder slamming tequila or walking back to the room at 3am.
Chewy for the win again!

My advice to everyone is buy a travel watch. A nice Swiss watch that sits a little below the radar and that you won't have to be thinking about while you're trying to enjoy vacation. Tudor and Grand Seiko are two great examples.

If you have to ask the question, don't take your Rolex...

One other thing.
Times have changed.

I happily walked round abroad with a Rolex on my wrist for 20 years in some proper sketch areas - when they were worth a few grand and very few people knew what they were.

Nowadays, every thief in the world knows what a 'Hulk' and a 'Batman' are. And they see £20k for the taking.

Things have changed. Your Rolex is about 3 to 4x more valuable to a thief than it was 5 years ago.
They know this. They may be gutter scum, but they aren't stupid and know their 'trade'.

It’s alway and will always be the same. A lot of people here will tell you it’s fine and they have been there and nothing happened. Yes of course! Untill you get robbed. And they are not polite and just ask they beat you/ stab you / shoot you to get your watch.

I have a quartz gs gmt for travel. It’s the best. Unless I’m heading to Japan, Dubai or places like Monaco for work I generally leave the good stuff behind.

In saying that I hope to use my patek travel time overseas at one point.

Every summer the so called "Rolex Band" performs in Ibiza. It is formed by mafia groups from southern Italy. It is not advisable to wear a Rolex in Ibiza.
