I would have thought the SS Daytona would be the one but meteorite is the hardest to obtain same demand and produced in smaller quantities.

My reference to the OP being an ‘entry level’ Rolex was in respect to the price point and style of the watch. OP and DJ both have a solid history within the Rolex lineup and it speaks volumes to their representation of the brand. I feel like those outside of the watch community probably think of both the OP and DJ when they think of Rolex. Simple, classic and timeless designs. Dive watches aren’t for everyone, neither are chronographs. Hence the higher demand and difficulty to acquire, strictly based on volume. Again, just my opinion on the original post. I have heard the same but I don’t understand why its so desired - I have the OP41 in turquoise and its cool but its SOOO not all that.. My AD got 3 of them in total from November 2020 through august of 2021 (41mm turquoise) They’re fun and cool and I really like it .. but idk I just feel like no way did my AD get 3 white dial steel Daytonas in that same time frame or they better not have dang it !! That’s the only steel watch I’m missing in my collection - I actually have decided that Ill daily wear my black dial steel Daytona just as soon as I can finally hopefully get the white one.. growing impatient!!
Ok back on track, Ill also note that whoever buys an OP41 for a premium will likely be dissatisfied once they receive it…. I think they’re worth their MSRP, but not much more.. surely not that crazy money they go for ! |

My wife has the pink op36 and multiple ADs she’s worn in have commented how rare it is and they’ve only seen a couple since released.

I asked for a yellow OP to my AD. Never got a call. So I am buying other brands nowadays. I'll shop with companies that respect their customers enough to not leave displays empty.

Sadly these are what I requested to my AD. So thinking maybe I should change my mind? Would be my first watch, so I was just trying to get in the door. Growing up from a small town I always wanted a Rolex. My business has allowed me to get to the point where I’ll buy one so I’m just trying to be patient currently. I love the Blue and White models. Not a big fan of many more though. They told me the blue is the most popular at my AD!
Traveling to Europe in November so if nothing by then maybe I can find something there! |

Makes sense that the cheapest entry level watch has the highest amount of people on the waitlist.

Very interesting though, the OP is the hardest, but a very similar smooth bezel Datejust is the easiest to get

Timeless design, looks like the most normal watch in the collection vs timer bezels, cyclops', excessive sub dials, "05,10,15" minute markers, etc.
Glad I walked into my AD on day of release & got mine Quote:

I feel there was a little saltiness by the owners of these watch models because they were deemed as potentially not as popular, whilst potentially paying grey prices or waiting years for them at the AD. I think a lot of people don't realise the OP, Sub, Explorer, AirKing all share the same movement (3230) so essentially have the same soul as each other. Out of all of those, I'd still choose the OP as dive timer bezels are pointless for me. |

I have two old subs - a 5513 & 16610, but my OP 39 114300 w/ blue dial gets worn more often than both the subs put together. It's a very good-looking watch, IMO.
The current OP 36 is the nicest watch in the current Rolex lineup, IMO, mainly because I'm not a Daytona/Explorer/GMT fan, and the fat-lugged subs still look clumsy to me, despite a recent trimming. The OP line retains the svelte cases of the four- and five-series sports watches. |
