there are still a fair few incoming threads, I think things are a tad better than before here, a friend that I referred to my AD got a YM40 in 2 months. Not bad. I still think the forums are buzzing.

Seems like majority of incomings are Subs or DJs past few weeks. Wish things on my list were also incoming!

It may be that Flippers also dabble in Cryptocurrency. If so, be kind I think they may be going through a rough patch right know.

My coworker had 90% of his net worth in the major cryptocurrencies. I warned him...many times. He is in pain now but still optimistic. He doesn't forget to remind me every day though that he should've just bought the Submariner during the peaks of the crypto market. He was debating it, but then chose to keep his money in the market.

Oh well, he is young and an engineer. He will make back the money fairly quickly.

1 thread on prices, up or down, (well moderated) might give hope to those of us trying to buy a watch.

Maybe then I could post a pic of me wearing a Rolex, pointing at a cloud...

I would love to see a distribution of large buyers of crypto by age group. Seems like the younger folks really bit hard. BTC is down 69.9% from high. Only 335% to get back.
Many said BTC was going to 100K. Some say buy the dip!

You should see those crypto forums, they are still very much on about remortgaging their house to buy the dip.

Don't forget, Larry, it's all a big conspiracy. The mods are in on it with the grey market / resellers. You're not "allowing" talk about prices falling...bad for business.

What I wish would ACTUALLY slow down are the likes of "I got the call...", "Incoming", etc, which I for one am sick and tired of seeing.

Folks get excited about a new watch that is theirs.

I do wish they would just go get it though, then tell us something interesting when you get it on your wrist.

Still, those posts are more about enthusiasm and appreciation for a fine watch than; "I just paid 150k for my 8k watch..... how much more will it increase in value?

Prices have always gone up and down and will continue to do so. We will discuss such things from time-to-time as we always have, but it will not become the focus.

We generally let one, or even two, borderline threads run.. Continuous speculation and doom or gloom running amok threads need to find someplace else to rant.
^^Bravo.^^

As far as interesting watch topics, this is not a bad direction.

I understand that speaking about prices was not really interesting and against one specific rule. (Surprisingly that rule was not enforced when people where pumping the market but only when it is going down).

Nevertheless I found interesting information, views, opinions, stories, etc about what is happening in the ecosystem, the ADs, the greys in these famous killed threads "It's happening...".

I agree for the most part. I wish you all would deter / prohibit the ‘Incoming in a few days and I will disclose my watch then’ genre of threads …

I learned a lot.
I don't find these threads interesting at all.

When market was booming, there were only 2 threads talking about pricing - OP and Daytona (and they were not bumped up with the rigour of bear threads like we see now). When market was going down, there were 5 to 10 new threads opened everyday about the decreasing prices. Like what the mod says, this is not what they want in their watch forum and we should respect their rules. We are just guests in the house and we don't impose on the host to change rules for you at their house. There are other guests who do not want those prices rules bended too, many whom just want to talk about watches.

We all agreed to these rules when we opened our accounts here.

A big portion of threads where speaking about prices, specific trades (worth it money wise), "opportunities", etc.

This rule has not been introduced recently, so I was only surprised by its sudden enforcement.

PS: as a mod/admin elsewhere I understand how difficult and often subjectif it is to qualify posts and enforce or not rules.

Honestly, if you can't have a discussion about price reductions on this board without it being locked (easily the most relevant topic these days) what's the point?

The 50th "incoming" or "I got the call" post isn't going to peak interest.

I'm pretty sure you can open a thread about watch trades now and you won't get banned or thread get locked. This is so different from the doom and gloom threads.

"Active" in those threads? That's a stretch and a lack of context whatsoever. I'm very sure you have looked at my post history thoroughly, or maybe not hard enough.

Flippers are not gone
Grey prices are still higher then they were a year ago
The market is down vs February peak

It will still be difficult to get professional watches at retail for general public

I think the frenetic energy and intense interest, fomo, yolo, whatever has died down tremendously. Personally, I am relieved as I found that a turn off.

A comment on those threads about current market conditions were really helpful to me because they highlighted massive economic changes that continue to evolve and affect the watch market. It has guided my purchasing strategy. I will say that I could’ve done without a lot of the vitriol that was in some of those threads. I try to take the stance of, “we can disagree, but don’t be disagreeable.”

It’s probably a combination of things - but - as a frequent lurker yet infrequent participant, I can say the hand of moderation is noticeable, much more than in the past and does indeed seem to be (from outside appearance) sometimes more arbitrary than others. People in any forum tend to dislike excess moderation when it seems (however correct or incorrect) capricious.

I also appreciated some of the data that was discussed and deleted - though I totally agree that the personal attacks and name calling were/are unacceptable.

It doesn't look or feel arbitrary. That is the biggest problem.
