I love the DJ and I think it’s a versatile piece, even with the fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet. It has plenty of water resistance to swim/snorkel with it and it has good anti-magnetic properties.
It looks great with a tshirt or you can dress it up. |

Good call imo. I would further suggest you kept your spending on other brands at a comfortable minimum if that's because of an urge to scratch the Sub itch.

I assume you bought the DJ41 because you liked it. And now that you have been wearing it you feel its a little flashy to be an everyday watch.
I say give it time. The flashiness will wear off. You can always get an apple watch for those occasions where you really want to be low key. If after many months you still feel uncomfortable with it, can easily sell it. You may not collect what you are hoping for when you sell it, but that is a different story. Once you sell it you can buy whatever you like with that money (including a sub). |
