Nothing says "I cant afford to loose a penny on this watch purchase" like asking which one is harder to get
Figure out which one you like and go from there
Chances are, anything that's hard to get, you're not going to be offered if you have no recent history with an AD anyway so figure out what you like in order you like them, take that list to your AD and actually talk to the person responsible for fulfilling your request

I’d wait for the Batman. Hardest to get right now of those listed.

See this is exactly how I read it as well. I work hard and do ok financially but my watch budget is minuscule compared to some others here. So, while I have a list of references I’d love to one day own, I know I can only afford to add one to maybe two per year (of SS models, for PM I’d be 2-3 years per). With that in mind if I had an AD who wanted to look out for me and offered me whatever I wanted off my wish list, I too would pick the piece thats the hardest to get or would otherwise take the longest to acquire first, and then look to add the others as time goes on. In fact after getting my JC (my first Rolex and a grail of mine for years before I was able to afford one) now I’m waiting for a BLNR. That way I get the longest wait out of the way earlier in my collecting so I have more time to enjoy it!

Sure it is. Just look in the TRF Marketplace, listings of GMT CHNR and BLRO outnumber BLNR 2:1 for each model. Price on NIB BLNR is also greater than the others.

If the dealer laid out a CHNR, BLRO and BLNR for every customer and said "Pick one and only one", 90% of them would pick BLNR.

I agree with this. I don't think we need to be so harsh with OP's thought process; it's actually very logical. All things being equal, we always value scarce resources over lesser ones. If I were to choose, I would have taken the same factor into consideration.

I have always wanted a BLNR in Oyster and am so happy they reintroduced it this year as I really do not like the jubilee version.

That being said, if a BLRO was available in oyster and the BLNR was only available in jubllee, I would get the BLRO...

Not sure if the market is actually slowing, but I hope the ADs are getting some watches...

Ask an AD which is harder to get, and a Pepsi is harder to get than a BLNR. Also on the secondary market eg chrono, BLRO is definitely trading higher.

As for your laying the models on a table, I’d say more would go for BLRO than BLNR.

(I own and love both just for the record)

So im telling AD’s that I have a waitlist and am interviewing to make sure that I establish a relationship that can last, I don’t want a fling. So I’ll be buying my next Rolex after I complete the vetting process, and I say I’ll let them know.
Sometimes It gets tough and I have to say look it’s me and not you, but i went another direction.

Where did you get this stat? You're stating this as a fact, but it's really just your opinion. Nothing wrong with that, but it isn't a statistic nor a fact.

I have a fun fantasy that amuses me..

Let's just suppose that the market, in a few months, enters a phase that stuff appears in the windows again.

I go on, inquire about a piece I've seen. They give me the white glove treatment... I tell them it's just what I'm looking for.

I'll buy it, I tell the SA. Do you have a preferred aftermarket dealer that we can transact through?

The SA would look surprised and suggest they can sell direct.

Then I can simply explain that we don't have a relationship....

I don't get it, who offered you your choice of GMT Master II, OP? Are they offered on MSRP?

Yes. MSRP. Purchased a DSSD Blue & AirKing last month. Kind of sparked my watch addiction again.

Just a guess, but CHNR or BLRO certainly aren't scarce and are popular among flippers. (That either means they're readily available or owners don't want to keep them.) Very easy to find one of those two.

So take a look at our Marketplace, last few days of activity.

Good luck!
To me this says the overall watch is soft at the moment but for a few brands.

Doesn't matter - they are on offer. Everyone is hoping for top dollar and they're all about 2x MSRP.
(Grey up to 2.5x MSRP)

Rolex is a watch for alpha man. Next time the day that they have no inventory, take off your shirt and say, “I’m not leaving here without a GMT”.

For my own sake, I would like this to be true, but it simply isn't. The blue/red combi is just iconic.

A further thought, and one that has been debated a fair bit before - how many of us now, in 2022, would still prefer the original MK1 bezel of the Pepsi (the one that looks more magenta and brighter than the current iteration).
