Here’s a shot for reference

I sold my 116520 and picked up a 126655 and I would never look back. The RG is stunning without being over the top and loud. The 126655 is hands down my favorite watch in my collection.

This is easy for me. I’m not into Daytonas and most chronographs ( prominent subdials in the dial make my eyes glaze over and then I think virtually every chronograph looks the same as the other one from any brand from Times to Rolex. Saw TOO many chronographs from so many brands, including Daytonas, on young guys early on in this hobby.) More than any other TYPE of watch, chronographs tend to look the same over time for me.

As such, Yachtmaster. Not even close.

The Daytona has a 28mm dial which to me is too small for a chrono, considering the three subdials layout detracts from legibility at a glance. So on that basis, the Daytona is a no-go for me.

I love the Yacht-Master, the more refined and dressier take on the Sub. I own the SS/PT 116622 and I wear it a lot since I got it 7 years ago. Although RG is not my preference, between that and the Daytona, I'd pick the YM RG.

For me though, the YM42 YG would be my personal choice. No Daytona can beat that.

I owned the YM40. Honeymoon phase passed real quick. Got rid of it and AD got me the WG daytona on OF which I much prefer just miss the glidelock sometimes.

Yeah, I think you'll probably end up with both.

So...that just makes it a question of which one first. That's always easier - for me, anyway - than choosing one over the other.

I stumbled onto a 11620 BD from 2016. Will pick it up next week :)
Hope the AD does not call within the next few months and has a YM RG for me, lol

I chose Black dial. Pics will follow after I collected it.
And as you can imagine this is not a decision against the YM. It just has to follow at a later point in time. But I was afraid the good 116520 are getting scarcer as time goes by

Excellent, yes & unpolished too. I like how the black dials make the sub dials pop more than the white dial models.

Your Sub and DJ paired with the incoming Daytona will be a great Rolex collection!

Sorry, it took a while. Hope that works:

And you are right, the Yachtmaster will follow at some point. I am on the waiting list, but there is no time pressure.

PM YM (126655) is better looking than SS 116520.

PM Daytona is more gorgeous than PM YM.

If you like Daytona more than YM, just save more money and go all the way to PM Daytona.

You can get PM Daytona from "MODA Watch Club (FB)" at less than $50K BNIB.

This is personal preference, so go whichever sing to you the most.

Still loving the Daytona. Did not regret to buy it, as they don’t make them anymore.
Now I am saving for the RG YM as I still find it great :)

Great choice. Out of many watches I own, the 116520 would be the last I’d let go.
It’s just so comfortable and versatile

You didnt go wrong getting the 116520, what series did you get? Smoking watch and looks great.

I have panda as my daily but in the last 2 months I caught the market dip and added both white and black 116250 and black is my favorite over the white dials!

After 1,5 years the YM is still on my mind. Went recently to a new AD, looked at some DD and PM Daytonas but at the end registered interest in the RG YM40. Maybe I have more luck at this AD. He said it will be “manageable”, no time frame given though.

Funny note: had my Daytona with me and after trying these other models it felt so light… :(

A few years ago, I was debating between the black dial 116500 and the 126655. They were the same price at the time on the secondary market. I ended up choosing the YM. Then my AD called with the Daytona at retail, so that's what I ended up with and sold the YM. Now I want to add the YM! They are both great. I think they work well together because they wear so nicely on the wrist, especially for a smaller wrist like mine (6.5"). If you can, consider a grey market YM. You should be paying less than one at the AD. Just need to make sure you have the right size OF bands.

The grey market is not that great here in Europe for that model. Mostly sold above retail.
And I like the idea to buy it at a AD to finally establish some purchase history. Will benefit me in the long term, at least that is the plan

I still wear my Daytona often. The itch of the YM never got away though.
Took some while, but got the call for the 126655. Will pick it up later :)
