Horrible stuff happens every day but the stuff you are seeing in London and other bigger cities aren't normal and shouldn't be tolerated. It's becoming too common, too normal.

Of course it's bad. Of course it needs addressing by police/politicians. It's sucks.

But the economy for many sucks as well. A lot of people lost jobs during covid, and we are just going to start experiencing mass migrations from climate displacement of people.

But people wringing their hands at something that happened in LA or NY or Paris etc etc. These are areas with massive populations and you hear about some crime and it's all over anti-social media and breathless news shows and the sky is falling.

Millions of people went about their lives with NO incidents in London, LA NY and Paris. You just heard about the unfortunate few who did have an incident.

I remember back in the 1980s and some kid got abducted in some city. And the mass media covered it and pretty soon you got a generation of helicopter parents driving their kids to school every day.

There have always been muggings in big cities for your wallet or your watch. It's just now that some criminals realized through watch sites/social media that people are walking around with thousand of dollars on their wrist. And in some areas that people want to flaunt their good fortune is easy pickings. So we now have to be more diligent.

A number of years ago there were a ton of car jackings until a few people got killed or hurt. That became a financial concern for tourism and the politicians and police started to deal with it. Now you rarely hear of car jackings.

They used to fly their cars over for the few months, now a lot just buy and register hypercars in the UK and leave them here rather the moving back and forth.

The location of the robbery is on Park Lane or the corner of The Hilton Hotel. The Hypercars, not just Arab owned, are driven by their owners to central london to flex their cars on the weekends and this corner is part of their loop. If you want more info, just google supercars in london, there are loads of vloggers.

This is not the first time this type of robbery has been attempted in London but it hasn't been seen in the news for a while. The last time was high profile attack on a British Personality in an affluent residential area of london.

The thing I don't get is that a lot of people who made good money in the US were always renting, for decades, now something something hit the fan and they can't cover rent anymore and can't even buy a house if they wanted. How does that make sense? That's a lifestyle they chose themselves. 'Low' rent, eating out all the time, car payments, travels, ...

It's not my or anyone elses fault some people didn't learn to save money.

I don’t think most renters in the US make good money, travel, and eat out all the time. You do see that in NYC but nationally I think most renters are fairly broke.

Super cars are hard to drive in urban areas, are low for easy window smashing, and mopeds are quite good for this type of crime with the passenger doing the attack.

Wow.

Climate change is NOT related to this particular event. But immigration may be, and it will probably get worse with various countries becoming more and more unstable.

It's predicted for some time now that due to climate change that crop growing areas are going to go through struggles and cause political change in a lot of countries which will in turn cause mass migrations which will over run richer stable countries.

The times they are a changin, and the world is going to get more and more dangerous. Tech, AI, climate, are all going to change jobs, environment and society and the have vs the have nots is probably going to get worse.

Have to agree with the comments that the current environment of being lenient on crime has only fueled these types of crimes. Fortunately the victim was uninjured however this could have gone sideways quickly. We really need to elect politicians who are more interested in law and order.

Of course it’d be better if there were no criminals. But we’re talking about victims here who treat almost everyone like vermin, expect to be waited on hand and foot, and showed up in the UK for the express purpose of rubbing their unearned wealth in the faces of the less fortunate locals.

It’s the same as if someone showed up to a biker bar, got drunk, and started talking smack to the regulars. Does he deserve to get beaten up? No. Did he do a great job putting a target on his back? Yes.
