Like fish in a barrel with dating apps. Way easier than before.

Don’t know but there’s Farmersonly.com if that interests you.

A more rugged, plaid, pickup truck type of place I’m guessing.

You should start a thread on your adventures. We need some action around here.

So far all I’ve gleaned lately is, buy and old Corvette if you wanna pick up old chicks and a new Corvette if you wanna pickup young ones.

This is an insanely huge topic that is effected by everything from social media, feminism, and education, to religion, economics and the fact that it’s basically wrong to be a guy at this point. Long story short though, men and women have unaligned sexual market place values/scales that, due to all of the above, just aren’t jiving at this point in time.

Idk I’m a millennial who strangely just slid under the gate before it all changed. I met my wife in 2011 in grad school. I’ve never had tinder or any sort of social dating app. I guess what I mean to say is I’m old lol

It is so much easier to get along online as opposed to meeting up. many text/pics tell them all about your life for weeks sometimes months, then if they meet up it's a embarrassing horror show.

It's easier to live a life you can't in reality on line.

After having a long conversation with my single, intelligent, attractive 29 year old female cousin, it seems that people do not bother to just talk to each other anymore.

She could not remember the last time a man initiated a conversation with her in a normal, non-bar, setting. Her dates have all come from Apps and been disappointing as the reality of the person on the other end never matches their profiles.

Back before dating apps became more hook-up oriented, I met a couple of wonderful women online before meeting my wife at the grocery store. Now, my single female friends routinely get sent dick pics even before meeting a guy.

Sure glad I am happily married but I can still talk to strangers with confidence and a smile. That always makes the difference.

Not really interested in relationships at the moment.

And haven’t done the Internet thing.

I like introducing myself and seeing if I can make some magic happen. I enjoy the hunt. But I’m also getting too old and tired for it.

I’m my own worst event.

Not sure I want to be banned

I do feel overwhelmed and overstimulated at times. There are too many options, which can lead to a bit of analysis paralysis.

Or maybe that's just my line when a girl asks me where things are going.

Me too. It seem like it's more difficult to meet a quality person dating today than it was when I was single. Internet dating seems full of pitfalls.

Nowadays I think being involved in your hobbies, different groups, philanthropic events and lots of different activities will provide the best opportunity to meet a compatible partner.

The right person generally enters your life when you least expect them to. Being open but realistic and moving on when you know the one your dating is not the one will put you a step closer to meeting the right person. IMHO

PS- The above does not apply to Wookiees.

Dating was certainly easier as I got older. Dating in my 30's was much easier than in my 20's. Latter part of dating was online apps. I was able to use them quiet effectively. Like minded people, looking to date in one place. Pretty easy.

The only problem in my 30's was females with baggage (debt, kids, exes, etc...). Thankfully, I'm happily married now.

I thought it would be super easy now. Older, lots of hair, better off financially, and at 48 most guys are not in my shape.

But no. It’s not easy at all. I have to work at it harder than I used to. Then again, I’m still chasing 20 and 30 year olds. Even so, it’s a challenge for sure. Not a ton of fun. Prefer my alone time now more too. Less willing to play the games.

But certainly the fun moments make up for the effort, to a certain degree. Still, way harder than I thought.
Easiest fix would be getting a place in Manhattan. The young girls are obsessed with location, and I think many would swipe left on Brad Pitt if he lived in Hoboken.

But I’ve also noticed the 20-30 year old party girls destroy their appearances quickly with all the partying. A 30-40 year old who takes care of herself can easily end up looking better. My girlfriend is past 30 but never drank, smoked or did drugs and looks much younger as a result.

The worst thing about dating a lot of people is the constant having to tell your life story, or making up new ones on the spot and keeping your story straight.

Well, part of my "challenge" is that I am only interested in smoke shows. Otherwise, I am not really wasting my time.

I do happen to live in one of the "hippest" towns in jersey, so I think the location is good.

I think I have just gotten to the point where I am not willing to play the game, I don't stay out past 9:00, I simply don't have a lot of patience.

I am okay with all of this. I am still enjoying myself immensely.

I had just thought I would pull up in a hot car and I would have to beat them off with a bat. But the only people that are interested are dudes.

Not complaining one bit. Just different for me than in the past, and different that I expected.

Still getting back into the swing of things too.

If you’re 40+ and driving world-class exotic cars, my best guess is they don’t think you’re serious about settling down / don’t think the time and energy will lead to an actual relationship. Their biological clocks are ticking. You may need to really hold their hands and reassure them. And also change 9pm curfew to 11pm maybe. Good luck

Sorry Chewy.. Rolex wearers are seen as those that can't afford a Patek. It's hard out there and standards are high. Perpetual Calendars only...

Lmao.

No compromises. No hand holding. Take it, or leave it.

I wonder why it’s not as easy as it once was.

Dating today, better or worse than when you were a young adult?

I remember it was easy to meet someone for a date on PoF, Tinder, whatever. Though I hear from people younger that dating apps is a nightmare these days and meeting people in person is just as disappointing (both sexes).

It sounds to me like the expectations are set very very very high from the get go these days. Which is weird because if you’re dating, shouldn’t the focus be on having fun?

Whatever it is, I’m glad my wife found me on Craigslist before it got to this point.

I have to imagine all the faceless, voiceless communication prior to meeting must take some of the fun out of it, or at least speed things along at such a pace that they already know each other so well before meeting that the actual meeting, the "first date" doesn't have the same vibe it would otherwise.

You may be the victim of stereotyping. There is often a negative perception amongst "smoke shows" regarding old men in exotic cars. Were you an obviously single guy in your 20's the car would be a chick magnet.

I asked a woman how her morning was going at the coffee shop and she kneed me in the groin.

So far not a bad Friday and I’m not dating ever again even if my wife stays in Costa Rica with her yogi.
