Falling in (Watch) love in Italia

While on vacation in Italy, in the charming old city of Lecce, I became enchanted and fell in love!

Our first night, we walked past a Rolex AD…closed. But, there in the window, behind the roll-down gate, next to a blue BB58, was the P01.

It was a watch I had dismissed when it was launched. Ugly…huge…bizarre…unnecessary…unwanted. Yet, this being the first one I’d seen in person, I did find it somewhat captivating.

Over the next few days, we walked by several times, but it was always off hours. Each time, more gazing.

Finally, had the chance to go in and check it out. Sealed the deal!

What I love
- it’s a Tudor sport watch design from the 60s that’s not a Rolex sibling.
- it’s a cool backstory
- as a tool watch junky, I think the bezel mechanism is cool. Over the top, perhaps silly, but damn cool nonetheless.
- crown guard reminds me a bit of my old Seiko 6105-8110
- somehow this gives off that original exp2 vibe more than the GMT Pro
- and, of course, it will always remind me of our trip!

Anyway…here she is
