It’s brutal when I get thinking about it and I’m manic depressed on the best of days. I would get a rescue companion but I can’t give them the best life in my small apartment with just me and health and mental issues. Can’t wait till December though(fingers crossed). Give your pupp a kiss for me.

You all know we love to travel with the wild boys so that will never change, but that's about all we spend money on. I'm on the list for another Rolex, though I don't see that happening anytime soon. Otherwise, there's nothing else on the spend list.
What we have gotten into lately is playing pickleball to keep the competitive juices flowing. My baseball season just ended, so gotta keep it going somehow. We take both kids with us too, so they're getting into it as well! Watching my sons play sports is at the top of my favorite things to do (they're signed up for flag football and basketball after the Thanksgiving break). I guess all things family is the "little thing" for me... |

It’s definitely the little things. The best years of my life were when I was struggling. Mac and cheese days. There’s something beautiful about simple. And simple things.

The little things.
I’ve been practicing breath holds. Not every day but have slowly made my way to 2 and a half minutes static. Not a record break by any means but quite proud of my progress. I enjoy the training. Very relaxing.
I love taking photographs. The best decision I made was transitioning from my DSLR to a fixed lens mirror less. More time spent actually capturing images rather than changing lenses, wiping lenses, storing lenses, then spend hours editing them. I thoroughly enjoy reading. I like informative books. However, I thoroughly enjoy fiction. Let’s me escape into another world. I love driving on the weekends. Alone or with friends. Bonus points if it’s fall or spring weather. Windows down, hands surfing the breeze by the side mirror. Or if it’s past midnight and there’s no one around to endanger other than myself, I might slide an on ramp or 2. I enjoy conversations with my wife. We don’t talk about politics, money, or popular culture. We talk about silly things really. Even better if we got the chance to escape to the mountains and talk under the stars. |

I like listening to espn radio in the car during the morning commute. Preparing dinner with a cold beer in hand, last night my son and we made fresh pasta. Going for walks in the nearby park with a nice waterfalls. Saturday day trips with my wife and son.

I used to hunt, but now I love watching animals. I’m not opposed to hunting, but I learn a lot about living by watching deer, birds, eagles, groundhogs, foxes, chipmunks. They have habits, personalities and they live in the present. They don’t try to be something they’re not. I’m lucky to live in the woods literally surrounded by animals. I try to capture them in photos and once in a while I get a good shot.

I’ve heard something like this before…oh, yeah…
Jules: I'm just going to walk the Earth. Vincent: What'chou mean, "walk the Earth"? Jules: You know, like Caine in Kung Fu: walk from place to place, meet people, get into adventures. Vincent: And how long do you intend to walk the earth? Jules: Until God puts me where he wants me to be. Vincent: And what if he don't do that? Jules: If it takes forever, then I'll walk forever. If you decide to walk the earth, Seth, keep a iPhone handy to let us know how it goes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

brother. this is also what I am talking about. I am very serious about taking a year or 18 months to drive the country in the Turbo S. Camp out some nights. Stay in luxury on other nights. But visit national and state parks. I have even debated buying one of those buses that I can put my car into. Drive it around the country for years and years finding the best roads to rip up and the best trails to hike along and the best mountains to lose myself in. I just dont want the "stuff" anymore. I want to live. This is a few years out at least, or I would have to find a way to work remotely while on this trip. But considering the world today, I think this is likely something I can work out.

Functional glass art, collecting, and just enjoying the new heady creations that keep becoming more involved and perfected.
Bit of a cannabis connoisseur, so I enjoy testing flavor profiles and new strains. Recently scored a Meucci at a flea market and have been hitting the pool halls a few hours a week to practice I enjoy cars, but don't have deep enough pockets for my dream car yet. My 5 speed 330ci convertible puts a smile on my face anytime I go for a ride though, and my mustang is a pleasure to cruise around with the windows down. I enjoy my work, I managed a pawn shop for years and now source goods from estate sales, flea markets, auctions, pawn shops, garage sales and thrift shops to resell. Finding good scores gives me a rush, and finding homes where the objects are respected gives me a sense of purpose. It is an excellent fix in my pursuit of knowledge as I'm always learning about new things, new uses for tools and objects etc. Meanwhile making business and personal connections along the way. Then past that I love cycling, I have a few superbikes and some to beat around on and it never fails to bring a smile to my face when I go for a nice intense ride. Though I need to work myself back into the groove as I've lost a bit of my conditioning being out from injuries half this season If I had nothing else in life but a bicycle though I would be happy. I am so grateful for the sport and the experiences its provided. I've ridden ~6000 miles in the past 2 years and the places I've been, people I've met, and things I've seen have been nothing shy of incredible. I don't think any activity or hobby has ever provided me with the personal satisfaction that cycling has given me. I guess all of these hobbies are reasonably expensive upfront, but with the amount of use all of them see, the value retention of the items used, it makes for cheap fun after the initial investment and most are just tools to seek enjoyment. |

The smell of Ponderosa Pine wafting on a warm summer breeze.
The sounds kids make just before they're able to form words. A hot sauna with eucalyptus oil before a good workout. The smell of coffee brewing in the morning. |

Walking in the door after work and seeing my wife and kids smile at me and give me a hug.
Drinking coffee on my way to work in the morning and listening to sports radio. Peeing off the back porch. Mixing my nightly whiskey drink. Tucking in my kiddos to bed at night and kissing their foreheads. Sitting in a deer stand and watching the animals. Visiting with my buddies around a fire. Watching my kids play sports. Great thread. |

I started a daily gratitude journal. Old fashioned. Pen and paper hard bound journal. I keep it with my daily journal.
I find myself looking for the small but impactful things each day to write down. I also have dropped what little social media and current events I was following. Was a catalyst for too much anxiety. - Meditation - Daily Intense Workout - Journaling/ Reflecting on my day/life - cooking dinner and eating as a family - convertible top down on a sunny day. - being out in nature and off of the grid. No email notifications makes me very happy.
But i'm leaving for my honeymoon on Wednesday and I look forward to rarity of the alarms on my iphone showing "No Alarms Set". That may be the ultimate simple pleasure. |
