VC all the way, no question.

I'd go VC personally. The Exp is great, but I don't see retaining 10% over retail as a reason to pick it.

You have two black dial Rolex, do you want another black dial watch? From strictly a financial perspective you're better spending (risking) less on the ExpII if you're unsure. I like the VC a lot, it is in a different league and hard to compare the two. If you were considering the black dial ExpII I'd say VC for sure... I'm landing on the Polar as the answer to this dilemma.

Is there anyone who actually thinks an Explorer 2 can hold a candle to the VC, aesthetically? Leaving the level of finishing aside, the Vacheron is vastly more attractive. I know looks are subjective, but to me this is no contest.
I owned an Explorer 2 and it was "fine" |

Also if you are making this decision based on a theoretical value retention/increase of 10% on the Exp II, we are really talking about a small sum of money if you can also afford the VC. That would be a non-factor for me.

I picked up Explorer II Polar few weeks ago and honestly that’s the watch I wore the most past month. I guess honeymoon, but maybe something more than that. It’s so easy to read and very comfortable to wear. I never tried the VC but the dial seems harder to read. Similar to my Sky-D - I like the watch, but the dial is pretty busy and hard to read when wearing. I have been considering to trade it for something else lately.
I’d go with the suggestion others made - try them both and make your mind up once you see them on your wrist. |

If money is not an issue between the two, get the one you want more, period. Do not factor anything else into it.
If you allow external factors to compromise the one you truly want, you WILL regret it (most likely). |

The ones saying get the Explorer II are crazy.
Get the VC. Smartest decision any day of the week. I would suggest posing this question to WUS instead of TRF as you will get a more honest answer. Sent from my IN2017 using Tapatalk |

Never thought I would face this - 226570 or 7900v

I know this is a luxury watch forum, but you can get 3 explorers for the cost of that VC. At some point money has to come into it. It’s not that you can’t afford either, but what else you can you do with the price delta. I don’t think it’s a no brainer if the OP actually likes both watches. The choice isn’t Explorer 2 vs VC, it’s Explorer 2 and almost $20,000 vs VC. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Take the explorer. Put the rest of the money you would have spent on the VC in da bank. Get the VC in 5 years with the returns. Therefore the answer is get both..
