Tell me, what makes the DD so amazing? I personally don't like a DD and prefer the Daytona. But I've noticed since I've been on this forum, that the DD seems to be unobtainable? Or highly expensive? Why? What makes it so special?

Thanks guys!

For me it’s the Day Date. It’s a finish line watch.

Fluted bezel and the DD wins everytime. The smooth bezel reminds me of 70’s era smooth hubcaps.

Platina daytona with meteorite dail would be my dream watch. But iceblue is also beautifull.

DD40 with fluted bezel all the way for me. It's my grail, and the DD is the quintessential and iconic Rolex, more so than the Daytona.

Both are terrific, but the platinum Daytona is to me the pinnacle without smashing you in the face with “I’m rich!”

I just noticed the Roman numerals on the watch is wrong. It's supposed to be IV, not IIII

They're both beautiful. They both have subtle baguette options if you are so inclined. No wrong answers.

I think the Warhol message under your own comment explains it! I can’t unsee that now - lucky I was going to vote Platona anyway!

It's like what my art professors used to tell us in college..."don't break the rules unless you know what the rules are."

Tough to decide between the two. The DD has the more useful complication with the date and subjectively the better bracelet. Prefer the dial on the Daytona and the lugs of a chrono to make the case.

Daytona is a sports watch w a history of being a tool functional watch . i think of it as a stainless steel icon. Putting platinum and diamonds on a daytona seems a bit much.

i feel the same about many of the gmts and other sports watches. For example would someone really want a rainbow deep sea? Seems odd to me.

Sort of like getting a Porsche gt3 with heavy high end stereo speakers and heavy hand stitched seats with massage and cooling and heating seats.

on the other hand - the DD prez! that bracelet is crzy! and keep it authentic with the smooth bezel. modern/classic and unique

I think as you grow older, you just want a simpler watch that is legible.

The Day/Date model from a few years ago that had the gun blued roman numerals. Wow! Should have bought when it was offered to me, now I never see them.

Of the 2, I prefer the Day Date. Not a huge use blue dial fan, but really not a fan of the brown bezel of the Daytona.
