Which one is the well-made watch and which is the jewelry?

Did they finally add hacking seconds to the VCO?

It boil down to what sings to you, if you are considering to trade your VCO for the Daytona, then it looks like you have already set you heart on the Rolex.

I'd personally do it since I loved the SS Daytona and looking for one myself as the next purchase.

Current collection: 1) Rolex Submariner(116610LV), 2) Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional(311.30.42.30.01.006), 3) Rolex GMT-Master II(126710BLNR), 4) Breitling B01 Navitimer 43(AB0138211B1A1)

It depends why you are looking to do it.

Personally if I had the VC 4500, I would do it. As I have tried many times to love the VC but its just too big for what it is.

If you find it wears a tad too large, then do the trade.
If you just don't love the VC but have always wanted the Daytona, do the trade.

If you love the VC..... DO NOT do it! :D

This is inaccurate. Blue VC Overseas are still close to $30K used. Retail is $22.5K. And there's a reason the Daytona is well below that at retail. It's not nearly as well made. (Daytonas' price drop in the secondary market is as dramatic, if not more so, although is that really a criterion for choosing a watch?)

I own the Daytona and love it. I also own the blue VC and love it. But there is no comparison in terms of horologic expertise, craftsmanship, and overall quality. The VC is on another level. Far, far fewer made, and just a more exclusive, special timepiece.

Still, beauty is subjective. So get the watch you love. I'd never do that trade, though.

Both are great timepieces and trading at the same level in secondary market.

Which one sings to you better take that one.

At Moda, Overseas 4500V blue dial is coming down to almost MSRP now.

Absolutely not! Daytona is the textbook definition of hype. Both are fine watches, but the trade doesn't make sense.

Im so glad someone responded to the inaccurate value comment, Overseas is over retail, should not matter though. I have owned the 116519ln and Steel black Daytona, they are lovely. I also have a Blue Overseas Chrono now. There is no comparison in finish and levels here which is also reflected in the retail prices of all these watches. The steel daytona feels like a 12k watch. Its really that simple. Up to you if you want to pay more.

VC is the well made one, special piece. Daytona is, well a Rolex (very good mass produced piece, but nothing special in that sense). It’s hyped, overpriced, and illegible. I’d keep the VC (I’d pick a VC dual time over basically any other watch in that larger bracket, including PP and those East German time pieces…). And then safe a few bucks and buy a nice vintage Speedmaster for a chrono.

Nobody needs hacking seconds anyway.

MSRP just like secondary is also an arbitrary figure that doesnt constitute the real value of a watch. I would argue its less relevant than secondary.

You have Hublots that are 17-20k MSRP yet quality is not near other brands MSRP in that range and they trade for less than half that. You have RMs that are 150-200k MSRP and trade for 3x that, can anybody say those are that well made?

Sure probably fewer made of the VC but the demand is also far fewer. If you need to liquidate in a pinch, the VC will take longer and the bid price will be much lower than what a Panda will get you.

I agree still, the VC is a better quality watch and I also prefer the aesthetics over the Panda as a wearer. Buy what you like first and foremost.

The non tapered bracelet on the Overseas is a deal breaker for me, the bracelet is just to wide at the clasp.

VC

Daytona is THE most overrated Rolex, IMO

Looks alone the Daytona - might be one of the best looking watches I have ever seen. But I am all about retail, that is why I said you should get cash back as the VC is $22,500. The Daytona is $14.550. The only reason I wouldn’t do it is I would doubt it is authentic unless you bought it from a Rolex AD. I would sell the VC and wait at an AD if it was me.

That’s a negative, Ghostrider. The VC is a much nicer piece.

Tough choice.. The VC dial is boring to me but I also much prefer the black Daytona over white so I think I would keep the VC here.

VC doesn't really have brand power.

All the more reason to own a VC rather than a hyped up watch that is basically the bmw of watches.
