You only live once…

What a story I’ve had with this watch…

I originally had a yellow gold day date 40 with champagne dial bought several years ago (used) and over the last two years it’s been sent in twice for a service to change dial. The first time I was misquoted by several thousand which was the AD managers mistake, so I declined the service. A year later I thought F it I’m gonna get it done, went for a service and it needed other “recommended” bits doing to it that I didn’t wish to pay for. I got bored of the watch and traded it for a yellow gold Paul Newman Daytona and an air king.

I mentioned early in the year to my AD I MIGHT be interested if one become available but it wasn’t a definite.

Went to a Rolex event at an opera a couple of weeks ago and he had one and told me it was mine if I wanted it. I went back and forth on it over and over I extended the time I was going to give a final answer for it TWICE, and then sent him an email eventually saying that I really can’t make up my mind I’ll have to say no. He messaged back saying that’s fine and I replied that I wish I had said yes now and he had already sold it to another client.

Well of course the next day (today) I regretted it and called him up saying so. He said to me the other client couldn’t pick it up for a month or so and wouldn’t be too fussed if he waited for the next one and said he’ll speak to him and see if I can have it. And we made the deal!

What a pain in the backside customer I must be

I really struggle with spending large amounts of money I’ve worked very hard for it and used to have absolutely nothing! Moral of the story don’t be indecisive :)

When I bought my first ever gold watch I was looking at a day date 36 black diamond dial , it’s funny I find myself always gravitating towards what I liked when I first started buying watches.

Here’s a pic of when I tried it on at the event and a second picture trying it on AGAIN in the shop.

Picking up tomorrow :)
