Not really, makes sense and helps them potentially weed out a flipper.
An AD near me said they sometimes do the same to see who keeps their watches. Fair enough I’d say

Congrats on the polar. Im on the list for one but im not hopeful as ive forgotten to chase it up with the AD.

With regards to wearing your purchase to the store, I think it was a weird request to make but I guess they just want to know if youre a flipper. Maybe they were trying to gauge your response to the request. ie if you got defensive they may have walked back the offer and said something along the lines of "its spoken for but please come into the store to try it on as we're expecting another watch next week"

I wore my explorer to the AD a few weeks back and they commented "oh, you still have it. Glad to see youre wearing it as well". They did seem genuinely surprised. Enjoy your polar in good health
