Since the introduction of the updated DateJust's, about 2005, I think.

I do not like the bracelet on any of the Professional line watches at all. It has an out of proportion look.

Just another point of view and as we all know - taste is very subjective.

Actually introduced in 1945 with the Datejust.

Although the Jubilee might look and work fine with many different models, IMO, it is just perfect on the Datejust. Jubilee with fluted bezel whether SS or TT is classic.

I was never a fan of the jubilee bracelet until the 116 replaced the 16.

This particular combination is just the best, IMO.

I think the jubilee is more dressier and the oyster is more casual. JMO.

I purchased my Rolex because the Tag I purchased was such a mess. I have a Tag ladies Link SS with the polished bezel and bracelet.

After a few months, the Tag was damaged beyond fixing. I still have a dent in my bezel that can't be polished out.

So I went to my AD and joined this forum and asked a lot of questions. I purchased a ladies SS DJ with the new style jubilee bracelet and hidden clasp.

I have to say, with all the abuse my watch gets and the 24/7 wear, I wouldn't have anything but the jubilee bracelet. After almost 2 years of wear and abuse, my bracelet looks almost new.

The oyster is gorgeous, but after having the Tag and having it all scratched up, I am happy I went with the jubilee. So my advice, if you really wear your watch...get the jubilee.

Agreed....my wife broke so many watches leading up to me buying her this Rolex in 1997 that she was very worried about wearing it....I told her that you can break them, but you have to really try hard to do so.....this photo is just before it was serviced a couple of months ago (new crystal fitted as well, yep, that's a scratch)....look closely, it has paint splashes on it.....it is worn for everything....when it came back it was literally "as new".....the Jubilee bracelet, even in its early forms, is a great design......

I should have taken a picture, but I was too traumatized, when I dropped my watch on the tile floor. My crystal shattered, and I mean shattered. The AD kept the watch two weeks to make sure no glass got in the mechanism.

My jubilee bracelet still looks great! Congrats on your wife wearing and enjoying her watch! I am very happy with my Rolex and its durability!

My AD is a family business and I actually got fussed by the matriarch of the family for taking my watch off (when I shattered the crystal). She has had her Rolex almost 40 years and it still looks great! She actually gave me a little lecture about bathing without removing my Rolex...hehehe!

The Air King date model is relatively rare compared to the no date version. Not sure how rare though.

Which bracelet is easier to adjust? I'm leaning towards a new jubilee, but the oyster looks cool as well. I like watches that fit snug on my wrist. Which bracelet would be easier to adjust?

This is an old thread but very appropos for me. I'm very close to pulling the trigger on a new Datejust, but I've been waffling something fierce on which bracelet to get it with. To me, the Jubilee goes with the DJ like ice cream goes with the cone (I'm getting mine with the fluted bezel), but my other watches have the Oyster, which I love.

I guess my biggest concern was whether the bracelet would stretch a lot over the years. Reading this thread has eased that concern. It sounds like the newer design is rock-solid. My wife's DJ has the Jubilee, and I really like the way it looks.

I love my Oyster bracelet. But jubilee certainly goes with some ROLEX watches better...

John, don't worry at all about the new style jubilee stretching. Mine is 2.5 years old and like the day I got it! Looks and feels awesome Funnily enough, I'm thinking seriously of grabbing an oyster bracelet to keep on hand so that I can switch things up every now and then. Love options!

Let us know what you decide! I adore the DJ line!

Thanks Karis! It really helps to hear from people who own and live with the watch I am considering. I went to an AD to look today and am pretty well set on which combo I'm going to get. Will post pics when I get it! And I can understand wanting options.

For DJ's, Jubilee on fluted bezels and Oyster for smooth bezels. For Professional models, Oyster exclusively.

Jbat,

It appears that you already have a couple oyster bracelets, correct? If so, I was in the same boat having a gmt and daytona. I've always liked the jubilee bracelet and finally pulled the trigger just before the price increase. My latest addition is a DJ, fluted, jubilee, silver dial with stick markers. Huge fan of that combo...

Good luck

Jubilee bands hide wear and tear VERY well. Oysters scratch very easily...especially those with pcl's. Jubilees are also more "formal" with Oyster' being more "sporty." If you have a fluted bezel, go for the Jubilee. If you have a domed bezel go for the Oyster...just my 2 cents...

Oyster on my 114270 and a Super Jubilee on my 116200.

The Oyster seems perfect for the Explorer and the SJ seem perfect for the DJ.

To me they make a perfect combo.

Always preferred the Jubilee-and loose, as they always are when you buy a used Rolex.
An Oyster is a watchband. A Jubilee is a bracelet--a piece of jewelry.

My first Rolex was an Oyster manual with Oyster band. I traded it after 7 years for a Perpetual Date with Jubilee band.
