Nice - that seems pretty reasonable. I'd imagine that between the two case sizes, there is prob more demand for the larger size just so people could wear it a little more casually. Congrats!! |

I am a 18cm so it is close to 7”. I tried on both a 36.5 and a 40mm and ended up with 36.5. For the vintage look, I feel that the smaller size works better and this case shape indeed wears larger. I think the 40 definitely feels like a 42. |

Got the call 2 days ago and got offered the same. But I’m looking for the 40mm. Declined the 36.5.

I’ve also been considering this piece but am looking for more information on some details. Have not yet reached out to VC about it but saw this post and thought it applicable.
1) What is the dial made from and more importantly how are the indices added? VC info states the indices are painted and all articles I’ve found simply regurgitate this. Are they hand painted? If not, what process is used? 2) What are the bridges made from? Appreciate any insights. |

1. It has Arabic numerals painted in black and a Chemin de Fer minute ring. There is also a small seconds between 3 and 4 o’clock. The Breguet-style hour and minute hands are made of 18-carat gold, as is the seconds hand. https://swisswatches-magazine.com/bl...american-1921/ Regarding the dial, it appears to be a silvered brass dial: https://www.mayors.com/Pre+Owned-Vac...000/p/40990416 2. Not sure I understand the question. Do you mean the materials or if it's hand finished vs machine? My guess is the material is steel, but I'm also not a movement expert. |

Disappointing to me is that the movement bridges are plated brass with the polishing of the anglage happening after the plating. This suggests that the anglage is roughed in via machining then touched up by hand instead of being fully prepared by hand. I was previously under the impression that VC movements were entirely hand finished. Can’t tell you how I arrived at that conclusion but doesn’t not seem to be the case. |

Don’t let it get you down very few movements these days are entirely hand finished. Mostly micro brands doing that sort of work.

Even most independents are CNC then hand finished. Sort of like free range chicken, as long as the chicken feet touched the ground in the farm before being slaughtered, it is a free range chicken. |

For anyone interested, a 36.5mm white gold 1921 has just been added to the VC online boutique. https://www.vacheron-constantin.com/...5QEyCEAF0AvmKA

That's great. I would still recommend calling and establishing a relationship with their concierge so you have a real person to reach out to for harder to get pieces.

Agreed. The relationship part of buying a high end watch at retail was always very important to me.

Aye - Have heard much about Vacheron finishing and so had hoped it was all hand done. Brass bridges, brass dial, printed indices, and a final touch of hand finishing don't make it a less beautiful piece but indeed a different value proposition.
