But the latest and greatest isn't always that. This 116500 just seems like a more cohesive design to my eyes. But you really can't go wrong with either one. Congrats on the pick up. Wear it well!
Well done on yours. The ring is the thing that stands out most and it constrains the look of the dial but might take some getting used to. The ceramic bezel works just fine alone. Enjoy.

Thanks to all who commented. Apparently the word of watches operates in mysterious ways. I'm not so sure that it's going to get much easier to buy these things but don't get despondent because the unexpected happens.

Well done. That's a good bit of luck. I think that version is the one I'd go for over the new release.

I think I prefer the reference you picked up over the new one. Good deal!

It seems that the new model release may have freed up a few models in the safe. I asked the AD why the sudden availability and he said many people further up the magic list were emailing to ask for the new model instead so my name eventually became the next in line.

It's a brilliant watch. I don't mind the new configuration with the silver ring around the bezel but this was the model I was anticipating and I'm really pleased. Never has being further down the list been such an advantage.

Serendipity strikes again!
